NARS Cool Crush Palette and Hot Fix Cheek Palette Review

Good morning guys – now how many days of quarantine are you all up to? Today see’s me spending Day 15 sticking to the ‘stay at home’ rule, leaving the house just once for a bit of fresh air and a short walk. So far, in those 15 days, I’ve done 3 visits to the supermarkets, and honestly, everything just feels surreal for me when I see the empty shelves and people wearing masks that I much prefer just staying inside my 4 walls.

As a beauty blogger, I tend to work from home the majority of the time anyway, so there isn’t too much of a shake up to my usual routine. However, I normally only ever allow 2-3 WFH days when times are ‘normal’, with the other days off out at meetings, trips, events, etc…

As my home office will now be my work base for the foreseeable, I’ve decided to have around 2 or 3 days a week where I properly put on full make up, a nice outfit, style my hair to a reasonable look (lets not get too carried away here), and mentally feel like I’m out – if that’s possible!

A girls gotta look good for video calls, right? With my new ‘rule’ put in place last week, I was super happy to receive the new limited-edition eyeshadow palette from one of my favourite cosmetic brands, NARS. The shiny metallic silver packaging landed on my beauty desk, instantly picking me up. And when I eagerly grabbed open the Cool Crush eyeshadow palette which revealed 12 shades in matte, shimmer, and metallic finishes, it filled me with a little bit of excitement.

As I have blue eyes, I immediately look for warm brown hues for my eyes. Glittering golds, peach washes, and deep brown shades are literally what I live for when it comes to makeup, so I was pleased to see a rather pretty selection in a range of finishes. I always like to blend out my browns with either soft creams or pearly pink shades, and it looks like NARS read my mind with this creation, teaming up the bolder shades with light beiges and pinks with flecks of shimmer.

NARS Cool Crush Eyeshadow Palette, Limited Edition, £56.00

The 12 intensifying shadows are listed below, ranging from softly diffused neutrals to striking blues and shimmering tones, as NARS put it, ‘for pure colour captivation’.

SOFT CHILL (light beige with gold shimmer)

BOTTOM ROW

GANGES (shimmering teal)

ISOLDE II (shimmering copper)

The above photo is my full face of makeup last week, where I’ve put Fresh Cut on the eyelid blended with Soft Chilli. Not too crazy, but nice and warming to bring out the vivid blues that all blue eyes have (you just gotta bring it out with warm brown shades!).

Along with this beautiful eye palette came a rather cute cheek palette, called the Hot Fix Cheek Palette. packed with 4 key colours. Now I stick to quite a strict regime of applying a bronze to the contour, and a swirl of pink or peach to the apples, with a light dusting of a shimmer/highlight shade above the cheeks.

Again, NARS have pretty much gave me everything I need within a blusher palette. Take a look at the array of shades here…

This limited-edition cheek palette features three blushes and one highlighting powder, which I feel are shades that will universally suit a range of skin tones.

The palette features Gold Leash, a shimmering gold highlighter; Spark Got Hot, a shimmering beige pink; Dream Place, a matte warm peach brown; and Sugar Spirit, a shimmering nude rose.

I’m wearing Dream Place on the photo above, with a touch of Sugar Spirit lightly on the apples of my cheeks, finished off with Gold Leash. This just makes it easier for me to have all the shades I would usually wear, in one handy palette. And of course – because in my opinion NARS always have real quality pigments – the shades are just divine.

And last but not least, although I don’t usually wear much else other than a twist up lipstick because I’m lazy, there were four lovely lip launches as part of NARS new Spring launches.

The Loaded Lip Lacquers are innovative lip hybrids that quite frankly make me realise I need to be a little more experimental with my lip choices. I stick to traditional lipsticks because as I mentioned before, I do get a little lazy. I rely on the simplicity of a chunky lipstick to avoid any gloss, but actually, there are so many modern day lip gloss style products which aren’t sticky and don’t give that gooey texture.

These are created to feel like a balm and yet give that shine like a gloss, with the payoff of a lipstick. YES!

The textures are incredibly creamy and plush, with the colour gliding on real easily. There are four seductive nude shades formulated with anti-oxidants and hyaluronic microspheres, so you get that real silky feeling. I love nude shades, they suit me a lot more than bold brights. I’m wearing the Young Hearts on the photos above, applied on top of the Orgasm oil-infused lip tint also from NARS (full review here!)

Four Lip Shades:

PLAYIN’ AROUND (cream nude)
YOUNG HEARTS (pink beige)
FOXY (terracotta)
FREESTYLE (chestnut)
