Making Your Vintage Car Part of Your Wedding Day

Are you and your partner car enthusiasts? While many people love to include their pets or their children as part of their big day, there are plenty of people who would love to include their classic cars.

If you’re the proud owner of a vintage motor you should definitely start to think about ways you can make it part of the wedding day. It might be a fantastic getaway vehicle for the happy couple at the end of the night, or it might serve as a great transport for the wedding party. Here is everything you need to do to make your car a part of your wedding.

Get It Ready

Everyone else is going to be spending a lot of time getting ready for the wedding so you should make sure that you give ample time to ensuring that the car is ready too. If it is not driven often, you should take it out on the road to double-check that everything is in working order.

The last thing you need is for the car to break down on the way to the venue. Go over it with a fine-toothed comb and make sure that every aspect of it is well-serviced and ready to go to work.

Once you have serviced it, you should give it a clean and polish. You might even want to get it professionally valeted to ensure that it is as clean as possible both inside and out. Make sure you find someone who specialises in vintage cars so you know that they won’t accidentally damage it while trying to clean it.

When you have a clean car, it is time to decorate it! From ribbons to flowers, there are many ways you can decorate your car for your wedding. Don’t forget to include some cans on strings for the getaway!

Prepare the Driver

You might not be the only people driving your car on the big day. While it is very modern for a bride to drive herself to the wedding venue, certain wedding dresses might not allow this. Therefore, you need to make sure that your car is insured for another driver.

Pick someone who you know and trust if you do not want to deal with the expense of hiring a driver for the day. Make sure they know the car well; ideally you should take them out several times and practice the route to and from the wedding venue. Go on the same day and at the same time as the wedding so they have an idea about how busy it is likely to be.

You are also going to have ensure they are insured to drive the car. Fortunately price comparison sites like can make this process surprisingly straightforward, and you also stand a better chance of finding very cheap car insurance if you shop around for a policy through a site like this.

It probably goes without saying that you should put everyone who is going to be driving the car on the insurance. If there is a back-up driver, make sure you add them just in case – the last thing you need is to have to run around trying to add them to the policy at the very last minute.

Feature in Photos

Your photographer will be poised to get some photos of you as you get out of the car but you can also request some extras with the car. There will be a few briefings with the photographer before the big day and you should take this as an opportunity to highlight the importance of the car to you and your partner.

The right photographer will be more than happy to include your input. Part of the photo session will then hopefully take place around the car. Whether you and the wedding party are posing around it or it is just you and your new spouse, there are lots of ways a photographer could include this as part of your big day.

It is very easy to make your car part of your wedding day. You just need to make sure that you put the work in beforehand to include it. From making sure it is clean and shiny to properly preparing whoever will be driving it, you need to put the work in to prepare it.

With the right prep beforehand, your car should be able to become one of the centrepieces of your wedding day. If you have a beautiful vintage car which you want to show off, your wedding is just the opportunity you need to do so. It is going to make for some extremely beautiful photos for you!
