Fashion: Catwalk Make-up and M&S Fashion Show

With London Fashion Week approaching, a couple of people have asked me recently about how to dress and what make-up look to go for when attending fashion shows. Obviously, if you are part of the show in some way, or some form of celebrity or public figure, it’s totally different – you are in the public eye and need to completely overhaul yourself. But for the fashion and beauty bloggers, press and industry people, it’s actually more than ideal to opt for a subtle make-up look and a stylish yet simple outfit so you look like you effortlessly know how to fit in to these events, without standing out for the wrong reasons.

At the last fashion show I attended, I snapped my make-up look before the show, and you can also see I have popped on a half PU jacket (from H&M!) to wear. Stylish, fairly striking, yet very classic. It’s best to feel like you have made a good effort, yet feel comfortable and ‘pretty’…

I opted for my usual daytime look except I ‘amplified’ it up a little. I applied a few more layers of brown smokey eyeshadow, created a more exaggerated eyeliner flick, made my brows slightly thicker, and brushed on a little more highlighter to my cheekbones for a more contoured face. I kept my everyday pink lipstick on, and kept my hair in a very standard straight style. The best thing about keeping your look like this is that you will feel yourself – fashion shows can be scary as you are constantly looking around at so many fashionable people, comparing yourself constantly and wondering if you look the part. So make sure your make-up look is just that little more glam than it would be for a usual day – but not too overboard- and your hair is loose and flowing along with a staple wardrobe item (like my fail safe on-trend half PU jacket) then you’ll feel confident, like a fashion show natural. And confidence shows ladies!

These are the products I layered up more of to take my daytime look that little more ‘cranked up’.

Speaking of fashion shows, I am attending one next week held by iconic fashion brand M&S, in my home city of Manchester. Held at the huge Manchester Market Street store on 26thFeb, the exclusive fashion show is in conjunction with London Fashion Week. M&S has teamed up with the British Fashion Council to bring a fashion show to the Manchester Market Street store to showcase some of the latest trends and fashions for the season, plus the event is an extension of the London Fashion Week shows so it will have the exact same look and feel as LFW. I’m really looking forward to it, as I love a local fashion show, and I have been browsing the new collections recently from M&S and love some of the new pieces! The below items are currently my top 3 from the retailer at present…
