When I heard that Topshop were holding an event at their Manchester store last week, I dashed to the occasion. Not only because I love Topshop (I do, it’s true love) but also because I am so used to turning down event invitations as everything is held in London, that I was pleasantly surprised to see a fashionable affair being held in the style capital of the North.
The uber-cool high street retailer ran a ‘pop-up magazine’ event instore, which let shoppers shop the latest Christmas collections, whilst popping over to The Fashion Desk and The Beauty Desk for expert advice on fashion and beauty. The Fashion Desk featured instore streaming coverage of SS11 fashion shows, and Elle’s very own Style Director made an appearance to give the crowds some serious style talks.
Over at The Beauty Desk, two make up artists indulged in the Topshop Make-Up products to give shoppers make-overs and beauty tips all through the evening. They also played a ‘Heavy Duty’ make-up tutorial in the background throughout the event. It definitely drew more attention to the store’s make-up range, which features a large range of products dressed in cute packaging.
There was also a Style Dairy which ran through the evening, which meant a member of the Topshop team scouted the store for it’s best dressed shoppers, with the winning prize being a £250 voucher. My good news was that I got snapped (wahey, my after-work-chic look pulled off) but bad news was I never received a call that I won… Ah well!
