Discovering La Mer The Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation SPF 20

When you think of La Mer, what is the first thing that comes to mind? If you’re anything like me, it’s their cult classic product. No other than the La Mer Moisturising Cream, owned by plenty of celebrities and skincare enthusiasts, and raved about in the press, day in day out.

I’ll be honest, I’ve owned mini samples of it over time, and find it a real treat of a product. They offer a lighter version, but I love the rich, luxurious texture of the classic Moisturising Cream. If only I could afford it, and that’s the main reason I’m not a regular customer.

I recently met with the team from La Mer at Selfridges Exchange Square, Manchester, who talked me through the history of the brand. One thing that stuck in my mind, and which has made me lust after owning this product on the regular, is how the founder created the cult cream himself and found it helped with scarring.

Now they can’t claim that it scientifically helps to clear up scars and ease the appearance, but it’s definitely been seen across customers over time.

Anyway, lets move onto the product I am now lucky enough to own and can’t get enough of. It’s The Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation by La Mer – I have to say I never looked too much into their range of foundations before, always focusing on their facial creams.

This is a popular product due to it’s fresh, natural colour offering, infused with La Mer’s skincare benefits (always a bonus). It aims to cover and conceal the skin lightly and give a lift of luminosity, aswell as an all-day hydration. It’s currently available in 12 shades, and I was pretty excited to get myself colour matched so I could wear the foundation myself.

The lady at La Mer tried three shades on me so I could get an idea of how each one blended in. I first noticed that the foundation in general, which you apply via a sponge, is weightless, and creates that buildable coverage in an all-in-one compact. Perfect as a handbag essential!

From researching, you also get the benefits of La Mer’s skincare infused into the foundation. I certainly felt like this was a hydrating, light and non-clogging foundation from when the lady first applied it to me.

The sponge applicator is super soft and gives you that blended look when you sweep it around your face. I finally settled on the shade Warm Porcelain, which is a perfect match for me as it may be a teeny bit warmer than my natural skin shade. I tend to fake tan quite a bit, so this was ideal for me.

I’ve been using this foundation for the past three weeks, I’d estimate, and so far it’s such a dream. It’s got a hefty price tag of £90 (I thought my £37 YSL foundation was astonishing) so it’s one I won’t be using everyday, but more for special occasions.

If you have an overall health complexion without acne or anything too scary to cover, you could easily use a small amount of this everyday, and it will last you for ageeeees.

Gotta say, I’m obsessing over owning this!
