Beauty: Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Skincare Review

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my recent posts about my current skin struggles. In a nutshell, I’m basically breaking out terribly, and it’s getting me down so badly.

I used to suffer acne from being around 15, however the pill Yasmin (and Dianette too even more so) kept me clear for the past 17 years. And now I’ve decided to switch to a more ‘normal’ pill (one that isn’t so strong it comes with a list of terrifying side effects, and that can be safer to stay on) I’m now on Microgynon and breaking out like crazy.

It’s been 7-8 months now since I came off Yasmin, and I’d say my acne worsens each month. My classic and once trusted acne skincare regimes and diet changes that once helped keep me clear also have seemed to wear off. So no longer can I rave about being dairy-free having a massive effect on my skin clarity.

So, now I’m starting from scratch again. The page is blank, and I’m in need of new skincare products, treatsment to try, lifestyle changes…. come and hit me with them!

A range I’m currently starting to use is the new Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork skincare range – a new skincare line focused on early maintenance of skin. Now it isn’t an ‘acne cure’ or a curated collection to fight spots. But, my skin is now left looking dull with sluggish cell turnover, and the worst texture and luminosity it’s ever had.

The collection of four Prepwork products include the Arbonne Cleansing Polish, Hydrating Dew Cream, Gel Eye Masks and Soft Focus Veil Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen. They are all vegan, allergy and dermatologist-tested, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

I talk about the Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Cleansing Polish in my latest vlog here, in the ‘products that are helping my acne’ section, from 5 mins 20 in…

The reason I was keen to try this ranfe at a time when I’m feeling so low about my skin is that the products are formulated with a superfood cocktail of ingredients that contain vitamin C and E, omegas and pea protein with antioxidant and phytonutrient properties.

The goal of Prepwork, the brand say, is to ‘preserve a youthful glow while safeguarding skin from external stressors such as dryness and UV rays. It’s perfect for people in their 20s and 30s, when early maintenance really makes all the difference.’

It also encourages that youthful glow, a quicker cell turnover for brighter, healthier skin, and general care for your skin. And right now, that’s what I need whilst I figure out what can battle my acne and kick it in the butt!

My favourite from the range so far is the Cleansing Polish, and mainly because I recently switched up my everyday Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Cleanser for this one in bid for something more ‘grittier’.

With my current breakouts come a lot of under the skin, bumpy little spots along my jawline, and I just feel like this grittier cleanser is trying to tackle them a little harder, clearing out my pores and helping the texture of my skin to look and feel smoother.

I can’t rave enough about the Gel Eye Masks too, which I was a little sceptical about at first. In the tub, you get 60 eye masks, in a kind of jelly like texture.

You literally just place them beneath the eye area, and they start to soothe and cool straight upon contact, transforming tired, puffy-looking eyes into wide-awake, fresher looking eyes.

I have a dark shadow under my eyes and a bit of a tired ‘crease’ line, and I feel that these masks help to brighten and sooth the tired skin, mainly due to the moisture-boosting superfood cocktail of antioxidants, omegas and phytonutrients.

My under eye lines are softened after my first couple of eye masks too (I started to see softened lines after about 2/3 goes). So pretty impressive! You can find out about the whole range here.

I’ve also just got hold of this super pretty little holiday inspired makeup kit from Arbonne, called their ‘Staycation’ kit. And as a makeup artist, I LOVE these cute little products which work wonders both for myself and travelling, and for any of my bridal makeup clients too.

The Arbonne® Makeup Staycation Mini Stick Set is pretty much the wanderlust edition of healthy living, inside and out. It  includes four multipurpose sticks:

SUNBATHE -Matte Bronzer
CHEERS – Reflective Gold Highlighter
SORBET – Holographic Lip (great for the tops of cheekbones too!)
BLISS – Pinky Peach Lip and Cheek Tint

All these come in an exclusive makeup pouch so you can top your cheek, lip and collar bone glimmer and colour as you go! The four sticks are part of the exclusive, limited-edition set which work amazingly well to create the ultimate sun-kissed look.

BUT – I would potentially still use these in the Winter, especially the Sunbathe Matte Bronzer and the Sorbet lip.

I’m going to try to create some makeup looks using these specially for the blog, but the pictures here on the blog below show the BLISS peachy pink stick dabbed onto my lips, and the CHEERS reflective gold highlighter blended into the tops of my cheeks into my foundation, before setting with powder…

I have to finish off this post by saying that there is actually another product from Arbonne I can’t rave about enough, which is their CC Cream in shade Medium. OK so it’s a little warmer than my natural skin tone, but I just add a touch of bronzer to my neck and chest, and it’s came me beautiful coverage this Summer without the need for heavy foundation.

It’s one of my essentials in my makeup bag, go take a look below!
