It is likely that nothing will shock you when it comes to the behaviour of celebrities, particularly when it comes to protecting their assets. The right beauty treatments can add years to a career if it serves to make them look younger. While you could argue many of the celebrities, we are about to mention do look surprisingly youthful for their age, we are not recommending your follow these shocking beauty treatments – we are sharing just for the sheer fun of it!
Gwyneth Paltrow
We love a bit of Gwyneth in our films. She has that youthful, innocent look that makes us think of home. But if you knew how she maintained those looks you would be shocked! She uses a stell cell transformer cream that contains synthetic snake venom. You would not want to give her a kiss on the cheek after application – it would come with a bit of a sting.
Victoria Beckham
Posh Spice might have a reputation for the higher-class things in life, buy she apparently subscribes to a bird poo facial. Ms Beckham enjoys something called a Geisha Facial, which sounds all well and good, until you realise it is made from dehydrated nightingale bird poo mixed with water to make a paste. It strangely makes a difference that the bird can carry a tune… which is more than can be said for… (you see where we were going with that!)
Jennifer Lopez
If you are eating your lunch, step away from the sandwich right now! Lopez loves nothing more than a placenta facial. Human placentas do carry some powerful ingredients that serve to rejuvenate us – but there must be a line, right?
Kim Kardashian
It’s Kim K, we could say anything, and it would shock you. However, even her most ardent followers were a little taken aback by her vampire facelift. This procedure involves putting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your blood into a syringe and then pumping it into your skin.
Serena Williams
We quite fancy this one… even though the cost of near £1000 might put us off… Williams had an infinity pool filled with warmed Evian water for a bit of extra luxury.
Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz, along with other celebs such as Bar Tefaeli, have moved away from normal facials. Instead, they have decided to opt for 24K liquid gold facials as a way of managing inflammation and so ageing. While the theory works, the cost doesn’t – you are looking at over £1500 for just one facial.
Mila Kunis
If you thought that was crazy, then how about a facial that will set you back £5000. During one treatment Mila Kunis was rubbed with antioxidant-rich precious stones whiles sucking on an ice cube. The impact: a reduction inflammation – and her bank balance.
Halle Berry
It is likely that you would much rather have a shocking beauty treatment within the normal realms of a human bank balance. There is nothing better than a treatment that is practically free – and with some connection to common sense. Well, Halle Berry has taken the sustainable option and decided to use old coffee grounds as a wash and exfoliate. Granted, you spend the day smelling of stale coffee, but your skin looks great.
Lady Gaga
Now, Lady Gaga might not be your go to person for sane ideas, but again this one is cheap. All you need is some Sellotape and a sense of adventure in front of the mirror. Each morning she would decide how she would want her face to look and then she would use tape to get there. Crazy? Yes. Effective? Also, yes. Her make up artist also used tape to remove her make-up. We’re going to suggest that this isn’t the best beauty routine.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Toothpaste on spots is a trick we have all tried and one that Jennifer Love Hewitt suggests for drying out spots. But this is massive, toothpaste is a caustic material and will damage your skin. It is not a good idea to dry out spots with abrasive chemicals.
January Jones and Teri Hatcher
We thought we would end on a completely shocking waste of valuable resources. January Jones chooses to add beer… yes beer… to her bubble bath. She claims it hydrates her skin, which makes no sense whatsoever, but claims she read something about Cleopatra doing it – which was technically asps’ milk.
Then, Teri Hatcher likes to add the sediment from red wine bottles to her bath.
At what point does smelling like a bar work and why, oh why, waste such valuable resources this way? As they are both youthful and beautiful, we probably should not challenge it.
