For anyone who knows me, will know that I only tie my hair up using a slip pure silk hair band. I have a couple of them in gold, although I have managed to loose a couple over the past few months – which upsets me as these really are the creme de la creme of hair bobbles!
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, then you need to Google slip pure silk hair skinnies, which are the silky gold bands I wear to tie my hair up daily. They also have scrunchies, and I have just discovered their ‘bunny scrunchies’ too, which are mega cute!
Anyway, I’ll get back to the skinnies in a mo, as I wanted to share the latest silk obsession I currently have, which is slip pure silk headbands. Basically, I like to keep my hair off my face during the night when I sleep, but sometimes find I don’t want that ‘bobble kink’ that can appear when using hair ties.
The pure silk headbands are perfect for using at night, as you can just brush your hair back, slide this onto your head to keep all your hair away from your face, and it literally won’t snag, tangle, or matte up your hair. It keeps it completely off the face and I find it actually helps smooth and de-frizz the front of my hair!
For a bit of context, Slipsilk™ is specially-commissioned and made to exacting standards, producing a range of products to look after the skin and hair. The silk is developed and refined over ten years to provide the ultimate combination of shine, thickness, softness and durability. The brand use the highest grade (6A) long fibre mulberry silk, with a thickness of 22 momme and enforce the strictest quality guidelines, including non-toxic dyes.
You can get eye masks and pillowcases and all sorts, all created to ensure your skin and hair is in contact with the kindest fabric to avoid snags, tears, or generally rough textures.
If you browse the range of hair accessories over at the slip website, you’ll find there is more than just the headbands, skinnies and scrunchies, but these are my particular favourites and the ones I easily use daily.
You’ll always find me with the gold skinnies on my wrist. So much so that I have been asked by friends before ‘whats that thing always on your wrist?!?’. I mean, to me it’s pretty obvious it’s a silk hair band. But because it’s so shiny and gold and pretty, maybe people get mixed up! I dunno… seems to look perfectly like a nice hair band to me!
The photos below were taken literally 5 minutes before writing this piece, so my hair isn’t brushed or styled nicely. I just wanted to show you how the silk skinnies look when used to tie up hair and what a bloomin’ good match they are with my warm blonde tones!
Do any of you guys use silk for your hair accessories or pillow cases etc?
