My Top 5 Products From Hourglass Cosmetics

Around two weeks ago, I headed to Selfridges at Exchange Square, Manchester, to finally check out a makeup brand I’d heard lots about over the years.

The brand is no other than premium brand Hourglass Cosmetics – the cruelty free luxury beauty brand. They are known for their innovation and commitment to reinvent luxury cosmetics, across complexion, color and skincare.

I love that the brand are vegan, because as a bridal makeup artist, I get more and more clients asking for me to ensure I have a full range of vegan friendly products in my kit.

I met with a lady from the brand at the Hourglass counter at Selfridges, who talked me through all the brands bestsellers and ranges, letting me have a good explore. I’ll be completely honest – I’ve heard positive feedback on this brand for a long time, but sadly never got round to trying it. Shame on me!

After spending a lovely hour with the Hourglass team, and trying out their products for the past few weeks, I wanted to round-up my top 5 makeup products from Hourglass I’d love to recommend.

Lets go…

1. Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick £31

These sleek gold ultra slim refillable lipstick are known for delivering saturated, longwearing colour with a satin finish. When you twist them up to reveal the lipstick, it’s an uber-fine angled point, rich in creamy colour. One of the best bits is that the sleek gold applicator is designed to be used interchangeably with the entire collection of Confession Ultra Slim Lipstick Refills, so it’s a keeper which you can keep switching up!

I currently have the rich peach shade – I Lust For – a semi glossy shade which looks incredible on my lips. It feels so moisturising and hydrating, too!

2. Hourglass Veil Translucent Powder £42

I’d heard about how silk and lovely this setting powder was, so I excited to try it. I always rely on a setting powder after my foundation!

The Veil transforms into an ultra-refined loose powder designed to give skin a naturally flawless finish. It’s a lightweight finely-milled, weightless powder formulated with soft-focus light-reflecting particles to instantly blur imperfections and minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles for effortlessly smooth skin.

I find that I only need a small amount which I tap into the lid, and sweep my large fluffy powder brush into it. I then sweep lightly over my face, leaving me with foundation that is set in place, with a natural skin finish and softer look. A little like a filter!

3. Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara £25

Again in a stylish, sleek gold case, this all-in-one mascara is said to deliver endless length, intense volume and sky-high lift for extreme, dramatic lashes.

The product is described with having the combination of the innovative 4D Amplifier™ brush with the continuously buildable formula create lashes, that defy the boundaries of traditional mascara.

I certainly fell in love with it after the first use. It literally lifts lashes right at the root, and when using the black version, paints over lashes lightly with a deep jet black finish. It thickens and adds volume in around two sweeps upwards on the lashes. LOVE this mascara and have now added it to my bridal makeup artist kit!

4. Veil Mineral Primer £49

When anyone asks me what products do I swear by in a makeup kit, I always say a Primer. A lot of people forget to use one, but for occasions especially, a good primer is such a key item. The right one sets a long-lasting, flawless base so your foundation will look it’s very best.

This Veil Mineral Primer is elevated to give your foundation staying power, extending the wear of foundation for a perfect complexion that lasts. With a texture unlike any other, this oil free primer not only creates a smooth, even canvas for makeup, but also conceals redness, minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and provides broad spectrum SPF 15 protection.

As soon as you apply it to your skin, you’ll feel the airy, silky, cloud-like texture. It’s literally a dream to apply and makes the best base!

5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette £56

Nothing beats a good illuminating powder, and this palette is literally my new favourite. It’s designed to let you create your perfect light with these three shades of Ambient® Lighting Powder, which utilize Photoluminescent Technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of the complexion.

Each of these high-tech, soft-focus finishing powders have been designed to recreate a flattering light source. The powders can be applied individually or layered to imbue skin with a multidimensional glow.

I mix them them up a little and use some of them to create a more bronzed glow on the hollows of my cheeks, and the lighter shade as a soft focus highlighter.

I’m so happy I discovered Hourglass properly, and got to try out a range of products with the professional team. Now, I totally see what the fuss is about with this luxury brand, and I’ve been recommending it so much lately to my bridal makeup clients!
