Lifestyle: Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa – The Perfect City Escape

I have two little aims this year that I thought I’d highlight today: one is to be involved with a lot more travel reviews and travel features on the blog, and the other is to venture to southern England a lot more in 2018.

I regularly take trips to London with blogger events etc, but that’s usually as far as my journey takes me. You know the one – Manchester Piccadilly straight through to Euston, for a day sent in the big smoke.

There are actually some beautiful hidden gem cities and towns not so far away from London that I never actually get to. But for me – and those of you looking for the perfect escape outside from the city – Suffolk is very high up on the list.

Nestled close to Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds, and of course, not so far away from London, Suffolk is a stunning place to stay, with its countryside surroundings and tranquil atmosphere. One hotel in particular that I’d love to focus on today as a stay-over/mini break option is the Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, ideal for romantic getaways, family breaks and girly spa weekends.

This luxury hotel provides the perfect blend of old and new in a beautiful country setting. It’s set in three acres of secluded gardens and adjacent to some of the most famous paddocks and training stables in the world, so if you’re a horse love, or just love being near animals, its perfect.

Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa is what I would class as a Boutique Hotel, privately owned with a spa that is rated ‘5 bubble’, so in other words, a spectacular venue for those pampering girly weekends. If a spa is rated 5 bubble, you know you’ll be getting looked after in the most premium, luxury of spa venues, with the most extensive treatment list. I also spied they offer ESPA as the main beauty brand for the treatments, which is fantastic to see as ESPA is known as one of the most professional high-end spa brands in the UK.

The hotel also offers weddings, which I’m not surprised about due to its lovely views, grounds and surroundings. Couples would get that rustic, vintage feel with the charming country house feel, yet finished off with a modern luxe interior.

And let’s not forget about the most important aspect: the food. I always dig deep on the internet for hotel restaurant reviews and photos so I can get a good idea of the dining experience, and to see the menu options first hand. With this one being a 2 AA Rosette Squires Restaurant, offering fine dining, it’s very positive to see positive reviews and gorgeous photography of the food offerings.

They specialise in serving locally sourced food, from no more than a 50-mile radius, which is always a nice thing to hear about an eatery. This, along with its artistic décor making for a charismatic ambience, makes me pretty impressed with this place for dining!

I don’t know too much about Cambridge as an area, but I’d be more than keen to explore it fully when staying at the Bedford Lodge Hotel. The hotel highlights some of the most entertaining, enjoyable and interesting sights to see and places to visit around Newmarket and wider Cambridge, including

  • Palace House at Newmarket,
  • Fly fishing at Earith Lakes Fishery (one for the boyfriend)
  • Cambridge bike tours,
  • An owl farm
  • Tours of Newmarket
  • Wild track activity parks

…to name a few!

If you’re looking for a stunning hotel and spa which is highly rated and makes a perfect city escape, check out more details over on the hotel website.

This looks like such a beautiful place to visit! I’m in love with that pool, especially – I can just see myself having a morning swim there as the sun goes up..! x
