Beauty: Using Pronamel Strong & Bright and Loving It

How many of you feel a little conscious about your teeth? I’ve recently found out it’s more of a common hang up across most ladies (and men too of course) across so many different ages than I ever did think. I for one constantly battle with feeling a little self-conscious about my smile…

It’s not very often I talk about hang-ups, mainly because I try to focus on the positive, but we all have them and its natural to share our feelings sometimes. I’m actually very fortunate to have a healthy mouth, with no gum problems or anything worrying, but the journey to keep straight, strong, white teeth hasn’t been an easy one.

Wonky Teeth

I have the problem where I have too many teeth crammed into a very small mouth, so I was prone to an excessive amount of mouth ulcers as a child. I had my first course of braces when I was about 13 years old, followed by numerous ‘big teeth’ being removed, to close any gaps and move my teeth together. When I was about 18, they slowly moved back, and I spent a good part of being 18-24 stressing about my front tooth crossing over.

I then had to go to a private orthodontist and get a version of Invisalign – those invisible, clear plastic retainer braces which pop over your teeth. Even though they corrected the crossing of teeth, I have to wear them every night for the rest of my life if I want to ensure straight teeth.

Brace Face

Wearing a brace every night (well, I’ll be honest, I wear it about 3 times a week, because I sometimes wake up in the night with this fear I’m going to swallow it – so bizarre I know!) means I’m prone to getting build ups formed on my teeth overnight, so I have to be really thorough when brushing my teeth. I also have wisdom teeth that are only half way through, with gums overlapping them, meaning they get infected a few times a year. Wow, I struggle a bit here don’t I!

Struggling to keep them straight is an on-going nightmare, so I want the cleaning, whitening and the upkeep for tip top condition teeth to be easy. I’ve never invested in professional teeth whitening as I don’t want to mess around with any chemicals in my mouth, so I try out a lot of toothpastes instead. I’ve finally found one I’m more than happy to continue to use, so I wanted to share it with you today!

My New Favourite Toothpaste

Pronamel Strong and Bright Enamel Toothpaste by Sensodyne isn’t one of those teeth whitening pastes which has the main focus of whitening up your teeth – it actually focuses on strengthening up the enamel on your teeth as a number 1. For me, with wearing a plastic retainer at night, I worry about any scraping of the enamel, so it’s vital I look at enamel protection in my toothpaste.

It also offers cavity protection, polishing of the teeth, acid erosion prevention and giving you minty fresh breath, so it’s a bit of an all-in-one hero toothpaste.

A lot of whitening toothpastes out there contain ingredients which can inhibit strengthening of acid weakened enamel. However, the Pronamel Strong & Bright Enamel toothpaste has a unique formulation that delivers minerals to actively help to strengthen your enamel. It also helps to polish away stains for brighter, whiter teeth.

The minty taste is a fresh, zingy mint – not too strong – just subtle enough to make brushing a pleasure. So far I’m noticing my teeth are staying a healthy shade of white and seem to be causing me no bother at all at the moment. They feel, clean and strong, and my breath is fresh (or at least I hope, I feel like it is at least!)

The photos below were taken this morning just before starting work, with absolutely no editing. I haven’t worn my brace for the past two nights, so you can sort of see the tooth which crosses over ever so slightly.

Some things I’ll struggle to change, but at least I know I’m using a toothpaste which is caring for my mouth health the best that it can!

Sensodyne Pronamel Strong and Bright retails for around £5 a tube from lots of stockists, like Boots and Sainsburys (but you can check out the stockists and more info herecheck out the stockists and more info here)
