The Juliette Has A Gun Fragrance brand has been one of my favourite luxury brands for a while, possibly since I tried ‘Not a Perfume’ a fair while ago. Since then, I fell in love with Lipstick Fever, which is a super sexy scent that has made it to my ‘special occasion’ beauty shelf. You know the one. Where your YSL foundation and Chanel pieces live. But for today, I’m here to talk about the latest fragrance from the brand which I received in January to try out. As most of you will know if you follow me on Instagram, I’m a sucker for exquisite packaging and design. And as you can see, the bottle and the box packaging is super slick and stylish for the latest fragrance – Musc Invisible. A slightly deeper, darker looking bottle has arrived – but what about the scent?
When doing a little research into this fragrance before trying it, I saw that it is described as “a soft, warm and cosy composition, as comfortable and unfussy as your favourite pair of jeans.” Well, if I can find a fragrance that is both luxury and comforting, then I’ve done well. A scent that gives me a warm and cosy feeling sounds right up my street, as lets face it, we spend most of the year experiencing colder days and darker nights, even though Spring/Summer is upon us. And as I had ownership of Musc Invisible in January – potentially the darkest and dullest month of the entire year – something soft and warming from a scent sounded ideal.
So, let’s explore the actual scent. It’s a concoction of Jasmine Absolute, Cotton Flower and White Musk top notes. My first reaction to these top notes from the first spritz onto my wrist was comforting more so in the sense of ‘home’ – I kind of had a feeling of freshly washed clothing and soft cotton, if that makes sense. Fresh but not zesty or summery – more warm and safe.
The musc scent is fairly prominent, which is a good thing due to the name of the fragrance! But where as the only real ‘musk’ scents I’ve been used to is the sharper white musks from High Street body spray collections, this one has depth to it, with a creamier, softer and more ‘whole’ scent. There is something so nicely comforting and safe about this fragrance, and with every spray and every moment taking in the scent, it made me feel happy and resonated with relaxed evenings in a clean home. Almost like this scent could give you feelings of wearing a safety blanket that smells like home – but a very ramped up, plush version of home.
Although the musk scent is quite deep, the scent is what I’d describe as ‘clean’. That must be the cotton notes coming through, adding the freshness and making this fragrance feel like one you could wear daily, without it being too overpowering. I’d also say it has the longevity to wear for any given month of the year, as in my opinion, it doesn’t really lend itself to a particular season. It’s fresh enough to remind me of clean air, soft clothes and casual days, yet deep enough to let me feel warm, soft and cosy.
As with all fragrances from Juliette Has A Gun, the fragrance is mid-high in price, letting it sit in the more high end, premium fragrance range without being pricey. Musc Invisible Eau de Parfum is available in 7.5ml (£20), 50ml (£85) and 100ml (£110) Eau de Parfum, with John Lewis being one of the key retailers.
