You know when you’re aware of an online fashion brand, but never quite get round to shopping from them, despite already being obsessed with the brand? That is exactly me with Dancing Leopard. I would even tell people to check them out when they needed a dress for a wedding, christening, birthday party or so forth. Yet did I own a dress from the brand myself? Nope. Not until last week, in which I can say that the brand absolutely did not disappoint.
You see, I adore dresses. Absolutely adore everything about investing in good quality, classic dresses that flatter the body and suit a multitude of occasions. If you find a dress that does the talking, all you need to consider is a pair of shoes and a bag to fit the look, and you’re done. I truly believe that the right dress can do all the talking for you, therefore I much prefer shopping from dress retailers for certain occasions. I often try to shop for special occasion dresses, ones that have a label or designer name, but look for lower price tags. Shopping second hand is good for this, but only when i trust an item is real. There are so many ways you can authenticate brand items now, so it does give me more trust when shopping for pre-owned designer fashion.
However, when I’m trying to step down a little with labels, I like to shop from brands which aren’t too mainstream, like Zara or Primark.
Dancing Leopard doesn’t just offer dresses, but it’s their extensive range of bold and bright, vivid print dresses that leads a lot of people to the brand. That’s what first attracted me to them, and mainly their midi and maxi cut dresses. Browsing the site envelopes you into this whimsical world of travel inspired designs, glamorous looks and laid back chic. So at long last, I finally own not one, but two beautiful dresses from Dancing Leopard, which thankfully we’re just as amazing as I envisaged them to be…
The first dress I’m wearing here is the Kassidy Dress in Magenta, which for me is a bold step as I’m quite muted and toned down with my colour palette. However, I’m trying to start injecting that pop of colour into my wardrobe, as a lovely block colour can really make you glow and bring out your features more. I know that every time I do experiment with bright colour, I tend to get the most compliments. So here we go – opting for a bright magenta midi dress, which I absolutely love.
I wore this dress to a friends babies christening day, but ended up taking all the photographs possible of my own baby and family members, and not me shimmying around in my pretty dress. Typical! As soon as you have a cute baby in tow, you suddenly feel less of a need to capture a photo of yourself, right?!
I love how this dress is lightweight too, making it a great choice for those evenings on holiday. It has a wrap detail fasten, so even on those days where I’m a little bloated or feel more uncomfortable, I don’ have to worry about squeezing into it. It’s priced at £59, in which it’s traditional styling and classic shape means it’s never going to date. I can see this being a wardrobe staple for a few seasons to come! (and years in that case, as I do like to hold on to my special outfits).
The second dress I now own from Dancing Leopard is embracing a print design this time. It’s the Dove Dress in Pink Daisy, made from recycled materials. I’d seen this dress before on their site, as it comes in various colourways and is apparently one of the brands best-selling dresses. But this time, it has a sweet floral update. I love the enlarged daisy print, and the fact it’s styled as a cute shirt dress cut to a maxi length means I can wear this for work during the day, and keep it on for events or occasions.
I feel like the rounded buckle belt ‘makes’ this dress, giving it the finish it needs. Without it, it doesn’t quite look as ‘done’, as the belt sits perfectly on the waist and defines the body shape as soon as it’s fastened. Once the belt is in place, it cleverly brings together a tailored, well fitted look. You can choose to button the Dove Dress right up to the neck for a smarter look if you like, or loosen up a few buttons for more dressy, occasion looks.
The Dove Dress in Pink Daisy is £57, and sits well for those making an effort with sustainability due to it being made from recycled materials.
Overall, I’m super pleased with the quality of both these dresses, and how well fitted they are. I’d say they are both true to size, so when I’m to shop from Dancing Leopard again, I wouldn’t need to size up or size down.
Although I am obsessed with these two styles, I honestly could go on a rather worrying shopping spree at Dancing leopard. They have some absolutely stunning dresses that I would wear for everything from a Christmas night out with the girls, a wedding guest, an important work meeting and those all important casual drinks nights!
