I’ll always remember finding out the gender of my baby by one thing: cake. Baby pink icing, raspberry and vanilla sponge, strawberry meringue pieces and glittery embellishments, stacked high and placed in a lovely cake box.
I took photos, and plastered them all over social media. The cake was a work of art, and it made me realise that cakes are actually so much more than just, well, cakes.
No longer do we layer up a few slabs of sponge, spread some jam in-between the layers and drizzle with watery icing sugar. Cakes have now become an art form, a gift, a memory, a centre piece. It’s a skill and a talent to be able to design, bake, craft and decorate a cake. So much so that if you can so in such an exceptional way, you have a brilliant base for a business. There is a huge customer base out there if you have the skill and creative streak to be a cake designer/baker. Now more and more people order birthday cake online from artistic cake bakeries.
Since having my stunning baby pink girl cake, I am now obsessed with what I call ‘cake art’, and I make it a mission of mine to discover some of the most exquisite and delicious cakes across the country. All my friends have children and often want to go above and beyond for their children’s birthday cakes, with all fancy and crazy deocrations, toppings, colours and embellishments. That being said, people are longing for a ‘wow’ wedding cake, birthday cake, celebration cake… whatever the occasion cake! And this is when I came across Anges De Sucre.

Anges De Sucre have the strap like ‘Extraordinary Cakes’, and never a truer word is spoken! I came across their website and was astounded at the impressive array of sweet delights, each one uniquely designed with intricate detailing and the most fine finishing’s. They are based in London, which isn’t great for me with me being based up north, and go under the French name which means ‘Sugar Angels’. And that, they most definitely are!
From browsing their website, it’s clear to see that this cake making bunch are geniuses! And when I looked closer at who they are and what they do, I felt they deserved a shout out. They are an award-winning, small family-run online cake maker and decorator business based in London, baking and designing a fascinating range of cakes for all occasions.
Anges de Sucre was founded by Londoner Reshmi Bennett, who was trained in classical French cuisine in Paris at École Grégoire Ferrandi and then worked in the depths of Paris under Michelin starred chefs before starting Anges de Sucre. So it’s no surprise that the quality and finish of these cakes is nothing less than perfection!

The family ran cake artists – as I like to call them – combinine classic French cuisine techniques with flavours from around the world, creating a unique selection of hand-decorated cakes, and delivering them around London. Oh how I wish I could just place my order and have it delivered to my door! Their selection of birthday cakes are really something else, so perhaps it’s a good idea that I’m not quite so local, as I’d probably be skinting myself out with excessive cake ordering!
If you’re looking for birthday cakes, wedding cakes, dessert table treats or wow desserts for shows and press events, I would definitely recommend having a look at this family ran company . They run fully online but deliver across London, and I also found out that they have supplied cakes to Selfridges in London and act as their official cake supplier. Very impressive!

The best way to navigate through the website for ideas and inspiration – I find anyway – is to browse by style. Here, you have a huge list of so many fabulous cake varieties. Doughnut cakes, macaron cakes, triple decor cakes, beautiful cupcakes… the list is pretty long, but you can click into each one and have a look at some ideas and inspirations.
If you have another specific, you can search via flavour or colour too. For example, if I was looking for a birthday cake for a friend or family member, who I knew loved red velvet cake, I’d have a nosey at the red velvet section and get some inspiration that way. Some of them really do go above and beyond – check out this Netflix and Chill cake! Such a great idea!

Above all, delivery to your London venue is free, too. So if you place your order online, you have the peace of mind that your cake is being designed, freshly baked, and delivered by the experts without you have to worry about delivery costs or transporting the pieces of art!
Now I could literally murder a cup of tea with a delicious slice of cake!
