As January 2021 approaches, my blog will be turning 11 years old. It feels bizarre to think that it’s grown and survived the over saturated online world after all this time. I still remember sitting in my room trying to figured out WordPress and asking anyone if they had advice on creating a blog. It was 2010, and not many people did!
Fast forward to today, bloggers have evolved themselves. No longer are bloggers those who sit behind laptops all day putting together reviews of products and talking about their life in diary form. No longer do beauty bloggers share swatches and close up photos of their eye makeup. Now, it’s a nation of influencers, who have a blog as their starting platform however has now expanded into YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and beyond.
I’ve even re-branded my blog and changed the name over the years. It’s had millions of logo changes. In fact, at one point, the blog focused purely on fashion, but for the past 9 years it’s become what I call a lifestyle hub, aimed at females.
And here’s the thing – most people who started off as a fashion blogger, beauty blogger, food blogger or an entertainment blogger have fused into the ‘lifestyle’ blogger title. Why? Because people love watching peoples lives. People love reading about real life accounts, from what others eat for breakfast to what cream they are using to treat their acne.
Bloggers know that the more varied their content, sharing their personal lives, loves and being open and ‘real’ to their followers, results in becoming relatable and likeable. And this makes them great lifestyle bloggers, and more so, lifestyle ‘influencers’. So, the first question is, what is does the future look like for lifestyle bloggers?
The future of lifestyle bloggers
Lifestyle bloggers are a fabulous media form for brands to work with, reaching target demographics because they talk about a multitude of things that happen on the everyday basis. This doesn’t look set to change anytime soon, as everyone becomes attached to the online world, they rely on lifestyle bloggers and influencers to share products, brands and experiences they may not have explored before.

In fact, as mentioned above, you’ll find that lots of focused fashion and beauty bloggers are transitioning into “lifestyle” blogs, because it makes much more sense. I’s a strategic move. Brands will look for lifestyle bloggers and infleuncers to work with because they know they that they often share insight into their everyday life, with product placement and chatty stories taking place as the norm.
Readers and followers of lifestyle bloggers and influencer will always look to them for what to buy next, because they know they hear about new product launches and experiences first. Brands want to be teaming up with bloggers who have the widest audiences, in which they look no further than pairing up with lifestyle bloggers.
Why having a lifestyle blog is still key for 2021
You might be reading this and thinking, the world is going crazy over Instagram and TikTok, so why focus on blogs in 2021 and beyond? To put it bluntly, blogs work with Google, and let’s face it, Google is going nowhere. Google is the search engine which picks up websites and resources when anyone searches for a particular topic.
Take for example, someone who wants to know which Shark vacuum is the best one to buy for Christmas. They go onto Google, and type in a certain Shark model looking for a review. If you’re a lifestyle blogger and you’ve wrote a real-life honest review on the Shark Cordless vacuum, and it has all the relevant keywords and SEO behind it, a lot of people are going to be landing on that particular blog post. People will trust the review, find it informative, and make buying decisions from the back of it. Blogs are essential for marketing, knowledge and entertainment. And as long as search engines are going to be used, blogs are always going to reign the internet.
Social media platforms just simply run hand in hand with them. You can link out to blog posts from Instagram and Facebook so followers can learn and read more. Plus, when social media sites crash, you have your blog still there, running strong on the internet. That dedicated corner of the internet.
Being a blogger for the foreseeable…
With the recent pandemic, the world is turning more to the online world for every source they need. Reviews, shopping, news, advice… and blogs are a huge, solid part of this. Yes, there may be millions and trillions of blogs out there, but there is never ‘too many’. You as a blogger will have your own unique voice, style and stories, and there is always room on the internet for this.
