I hate to bang on about the current pandemic and the fact we’re all staying at home more than ever, but let’s be honest: this has become our new norm. So, when I was thinking of ideas for thoughtful Christmas gifts this year, anything home related or associated with beautifying the home became top of my list.
Today’s gift guide piece is dedicated to one of the loveliest gift ideas I’ve come across: Smellacloud (or known as Geurwolkje in the Netherlands). I also love supporting smaller businesses, and Smellacloud is the brainchild of a two co-founders, who have worked hard to launch this young and driven business. It comes with a strong sustainable mission and a clear vision: Feel good, smell good and be happy!
The co-founders are Robert and Tamsyn, who launched their business idea after following their belief that ‘relaxation is the superpower that enables people to do what they truly want.’ And it’s totally true. We should ourselves more time for relaxation. We should take inspiration from the Swedes and the Danish, who believe in Fika and Hygge, and follow relaxation and self-care much more than we do.
Robert and Tamsyn have studied the magic and science of the art of relaxation for years, and after being convinced that relaxation changes everything, they wanted to launch a product which enhances relaxation into our lives.

The Smellacloud aroma diffusers work with the Smellacloud range of luscious essential oils, which can be used to infuse the room, for multiple purposes. I’ve been using the Eucalyptus one with my Smellacloud, and thought I’d share the photos I have of mine, which is perched on my home office desk, looking all modern and sleek!
You can actually pick for an array of styles when it comes to the choice of aroma diffusers at Smellacloud, which is a great thing to have options as everyone has different homes and different interior/decor tastes, and I feel the collection lend themselves to various modern style homes.
I went for the Sakura Aroma Diffuser, a sleek white one with a wood effect top which is actually the light part of the device. Its super easy to use: I just screw the lid off, fill up with water, add 4-7 drops of the Eucalpytus essential oils, and press the light on and steam button so the lovely warm light gives that relaxing ambiance as the oils fill the air in the room.
One of the reasons I went for Eucalytpus is because I find it a great one for helping with stuffy noses and blocked senses, which is usually something I get come December. As it also works as a humidifier too, I feel a lot of people will benefit having these in their homes. I personally find the Sakura diffuser a very cute looking addition to my home office, but you can use it – and any of the other designs – in any room you wish really! Living room, bathroom, even the nursery…

The benefits of a Smellacloud
There are a number of benefits, and I’ve possible touched on a few already above! The main ones are the the aroma diffusers can eliminate complaints like feeling as if you’re suffering from a dry or aching throat, blocked nose, dry skin, headaches or sensitive eyes. Plus, that ‘cold/flu’ feeling, or when you feel chilly and can’t warm up in your own home. Even feelings of fatigue
So basically, the Smellacloud acts as a humidifier, an aroma diffuser and a mood light, all in one. The perfect potential gift for parents, a friend, your partner… and it’s so simple to use. Simply fill it with water and add a few drops of the desired essential oil as mentioned above, and you will not only humidify the room, but you’ll also spread a pleasant fragrance and set that beautiful mood enhancing lighting too.
I also found out when exploring the brand further that additional to the fact that an aroma diffuser is beneficial to your own health, it’s also great for your plants too! Winner.
Every room in your house is suitable for a Smellacloud. From the bedroom to the living room. Even the nursery! In the entrance hall to make sure guests are welcomed into your home properly, or in the bathroom to eliminate unwanted smells. Add one to your home office or study room to improve your focus and concentration, or create a calming atmosphere in your baby room.

If you’re a little unsure of giving a Christmas gift this season that is beautiful for a wide range of people, has health and mood benefits, looks pretty for the home and is a little bit of a ‘wow’ gift, I’d highly recommend a Smellacloud. The Sakura style that I have retails at £45, although it is currently reduced (depending when you go on the site!). Add a lovely essential oil, a pack of herbal teas maybe, and you’ve just gifted something super thoughtful, with sell-being and self-care to heart.
I’m obsessed with mine!
