Everyone wants to be happier and healthier- the two fundamental aims in life. The good news is there are simple things we can do to achieve this. Life doesn’t have to be complicated all the time.
With that in mind, let us look at some of them.
Take Care of Your Sleep
There are plenty of things happening while we sleep. Among others, our heart rate slows down, our muscles relax, and our body heals from the physical and mental stresses of the daily grind.
If you want to feel energized and full of vitality in the morning, make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Buy blackout curtains and invest in a few bed fans. Refrain from using any electronic devices at least 30 minutes before going to bed, and don’t forget to use a comfortable pillow. These simple changes will make an enormous difference.
Wear Sunscreen
It takes less than a minute to put on sunscreen on your entire face and neck. But the benefits can last a lifetime. Aside from preventing premature aging, dark spots, and saggy skin, sunscreen can also serve as a moisturizer and even a part of your daily makeup routine. And best of all, it will decrease your chance of getting skin cancer at a later stage of your life almost ten-fold.
You can choose whichever brand you like. Yet, remember to buy one that is water-resistant and has an SPF of at least 30.
Floss
Most of us have the habit of brushing our teeth in the morning and before going to bed. Some people do it even more than that, three to four or five times per day.
But a lot of us don’t floss, mainly due to laziness. After all, flossing takes less than brushing and, as many experts believe, could be even more important.
Flossing has a dual benefit. First, it removes any excess food caught between your teeth. Second, it prevents plaque from building up, which could cause many dental problems in the future.

Engage in Spirituality
There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of religions in the world. Whether you choose to believe in Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Buddha, or none of them, that is your personal decision, and it should be respected.
The concept of spirituality is not about praying to a specific God. Instead, it is about taking time to reflect on your life, relationships, and priorities. It’s about meditating every once in a while to have a better, clearer outlook. If you don’t know where to begin, there are many practices you could explore.
Stay Physically Active
You should do exercise if you want to lose those extra pounds that keep annoying you and prevent you from wearing your favorite bathing suit in the summer. But even if you look like Wonder Woman or have Brad Pitt’s chiseled abs in Fight Club, you should still do physical activity.
There are many reasons for this, most of which you already know. Perhaps the biggest one of them is that moving is a sign that you are alive, that there is a beating heart inside you and air in your lungs. Moving also makes you happy and gives you a better state of mind.
Talk to the People You Love
We only have one life, and unfortunately, it doesn’t last forever. None of us have a guaranteed tomorrow, not even the rest of the day. When the end of their physical journey through existence is close, most people don’t regret the money they didn’t make or the places they didn’t visit. They regret not spending enough time with the people they cared about and not telling them enough that they loved them.
For some, these people are their families and relatives. For others, it is their friends. Regardless of who it is for you, pick up the phone and talk to them often. Laugh with them and share the good and the bad. It will make your life more joyful and fulfilling.
Take It Easy
Life is full of struggles. We struggle to make money and make ends meet. We struggle in our relationships and at work. But most things can be fixed if we take a few minutes to calm down, relax, and think about viable solutions.
Sometimes, the problems we face can overwhelm us and put us on edge. In these moments, we can remind ourselves that this too shall pass. As the great Winston Churchill once said, “If we are going through hell,” more often than not, we should “just keep going.” When one door closes, another opens. All we need is patience and a bit of optimism.
If you want a better life, take care of your sleep and wear sunscreen. Floss every day and work on your spirituality. Do some exercise and talk to the people you love. Finally, take things as they go and have some perspective.
When you do this, you slowly begin to see how your life continues to improve.
