Olaplex No 4 and No 5 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner Review

If you’re a blondie, or regularly colour your hair, bleach it, curl it, apply intense heat, etc etc, then you’ll know the annoyance of coloured, parched hair. I’m potentially in the worst category: I’ve had years of bleach and highlights, and tend to blow dry my hair every other day.

When I go to the hairdressers, they infuse Olaplex No 3 into my treatment as quite frankly, it bloomin’ needs it. The Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector treatment is fantastic, but I seem to go through it quite quickly with my hair being drastically dry and brittle. Lets not even talk about how much snaps off!

I adore Olaplex No 3, but hearing the news that No 4 and No 5 have now been released to compliment the No 3 treatment was just music to my ears. No 3 is a fantastic treatment product (I’ve reviewed it before here), but having a No 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner just finishes the range off.

Lets take a look at these new launches…

OLAPLEX No 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

OLAPLEX stars a patented active ingredient that works on a molecular level, seeking out broken bonds in the hair (which are caused by chemical, thermal and mechanical damage). The OLAPLEX formula starts to repair them, making bleached hair like mine glossier, stronger and healthier.

The OLAPLEX No 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo is the most recent launch, now available to buy, working as a shampoo which repairs hair bonds while gently cleansing hair. I’ve been using it for the past two weeks, alongside the new No 5 conditioner, but always after the No 3 hair perfecter.

I love how all the OLAPLEX range come in chic, minimalist bottles, and each product launch never disappoints. I’d go as far as to say the No 3 performs miracles, and it looks like No 4 follows in its footsteps.

You can use it as a daily cleansing and repairing shampoo, but I tend to use every other wash. It comes out as a silk fluid, and straight after using it I can actually feel how deeply hydrated and strengthened my hair is after the formula has penetrated.

It isn’t too rich too use either. The only reason I use it every other wash is that I want to save it as much as I can! For those wondering, the No 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo formula is also colour- sulphate- paraben- gluten- and nut-free, as well as vegan-friendly too.

OLAPLEX No 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

Hooray – an Olaplex conditioner safe to use daily has arrived! This miracle-working conditioner is packed with the active ingredient bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, which helps strengthen and repair damaged hair post colouring, bleaching, perming or heat-styling.

It’s to be used as a daily restoring and hydrating conditioner, transforming shattered bonds. I tend to leave this on for around 1-2 minutes before thoroughly washing off. But if you use with the No 3 treatment, you can probably leave it on a little less (or a little longer if you don’t use No 3 and you want a deep conditioning treatment).

These products don’t come cheap, but they deliver the exact same salon experience you get when you have a colour treatment done. They cost £24 each, but you only need a small amount of each to really work deep down. Plus, as I mentioned before, I don’t use them for every wash.

I’m a huge huge huge fan of OLAPLEX and always swear by the products for my over highlighted hair which is constantly breaking. So do remember I review them based on my own hair type. However, the results are fast and literally transforming.

My parched hair, frizziness and dry strands are silky, strong and glossy after under going treatment from the OLAPEX products, and I’m just ecstatic I can use all 3 products now!
