As most of you will know from the amount of times I drop this in on powderrooms.co.uk – I have finally moved into my own abode. A two bedroom house decorated and designed by myself to reflect my interior and decor tastes, and in short, I couldn’t be happier to be all settled into my ‘home’. The time of year I moved is a little bit of good timing and also bad timing – it’s still Summer so the evenings are light and it means I’m not using my electricity and heating all the time (just yet!), but it’s also splat bang in the middle of leaving the Summer months, and going into Autumn. Do I decorate my house to a light, Summer colour scheme? Or do I opt for Autumnal ‘cosy-ness’ and warmer palettes?
I decided to do a little bit of both, and I also decided to budget shop for new furniture to make my house have that touch of Autumnal warmth. With this in mind, I purchased a lovely comfy sofa, however for an Autumn update I really wanted a cute little modern chair, to contradict with the appearance my homely, country inspired style couch. I decided to transform my living room with a little update from George at ASDA – I have never really shopped at George for anything other than clothes or nightwear, but when I looked into their furniture range, I found some uber-cool items for reasonable prices.
Here’s some chair inspiration I really love at the moment:
I wanted to update the look of the living room with a stylish chair to add an element of cutting-edge, current interior styling. I personally love going for a deep charcoal to add a more intense Autumnal shade to my cream coloured, wooden furniture kitted-out living room. To style up and create a warmer feel, I like to drape over a grey throw and mix up with decoration with a selection of monochrome printed cushions. However, I have a real love for cream, as you can tell below!
All it takes sometimes is just one new key piece of furniture to add to a room in your house, and you can really create a new haven of ‘home’. Now I have purchased this Tub Chair, I’ve also got my eye on a number of box frame shelving units from George in a natural wood colour to add some depth (and storage!) to the walls of my living room too. That may become my October home update, so keep a look out.
I’ve tried to keep my living room looking minimal and chic for the new Autumn season, yet also with a touch of cosy cottagey accessories to give that warmer feel. I really like the whole cosy cottage vibe – if I could do anything as my next step property wise, I’d want a log cabin too, perhaps one I could have as a second home. Imagine how fantastic it would be to have one you could create to your custom taste, where you could work with a log cabin homes company and use their log cabin kits to be involved in the entire process, from draft drawings to the finished home.
