Lifestyle: An Evening at iFLY Indoor Skydiving in Manchester

A few weeks ago I did something pretty incredible: I went indoor skydiving! I wasn’t even aware that there was an indoor skydiving centre in Manchester, until I realised that there is iFLY – situated in the heart of Trafford. With its team of specialist staff, you can learn how to soar like a bird in the first 14ft (4.3m) diameter iFLY wind tunnel to be built in the UK!

Myself and my friend came along during a week night evening, and you know, I actually felt nervous. It looked like it needed so much skill and concentration to hold yourself in the right position to ‘fly’ in the wind tunnel.

And my first thought was ‘how on Earth am I going to hold myself like that in those strong wind tunnels?’

But you know what, I was actually really good! Like, as in, people in my group even commented on how well I took to it and got my body in the right position pretty quickly.

Our instructor was fantastic and helped guide me beforehand and whilst in the tunnel, telling me when to straighten out or bend my legs, or put my arms out further to help hold the balance. I even could be let go off and flew around myself!

The team at iFLY helped with any nervous feelings I had, with a full on introduction session, and talked me through the experience of feeling of freefall,  floating along the winds. There’s no parachute, no jumping, and nothing attaching you when you’re in the tunnel – it’s just you FLYING in the air.

I literally couldn’t believe how super fun, super safe and super cool it was! Such a different experience to have, and one I hadn’t thought of before to try out.

I talk about it in my latest vlog, and I’ve even shared my certificate with you all in the video too. Towards the end of the vlog, you can actually see me ‘flying around’ in the wind tunnel – so take a look below!
