We all know that a healthy mind and body are the keys to living a happy life. But mental health, like physical health, takes time and effort. To tone your body you hit the gym, but often when it comes to our mind we tend to hit the proverbial wall.
Don’t fret there are scientific ways you can improve your mental health. Here are five tips to help you stay on the right track.
1. Exercise / Yoga / Meditate
It’s simple: exercise is one of the best ways to improve your mental health, and it has a host of other benefits, like helping you lose weight and ward off disease. Yoga and meditation are also great ways to take care of yourself mentally and physically in a healthy way.
2. Limit time on social media
Social media can be wonderful for keeping in touch with friends and family—but it can also be
dangerous for mental health if used too much or for too long at once (it can lead to an increase in feelings of loneliness). Social media has become a gateway drug for many people, and it’s easy to get sucked into the vortex of scrolling and posting. Studies have shown that people who spend more than 30 minutes on social media every day are more likely to have depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. In spite of the dreaded FOMO, unplugging can actually help (see #4).
3. Weed
If you’re not familiar with weed, now might be a good time to learn! The medical benefits of marijuana have been well documented, but what about its psychological effects? Marijuana can help reduce depression symptoms, improve sleep quality, and increase energy levels and focus—and that’s just a few examples. If you haven’t tried it yet (or even if you have), we highly recommend trying some!
Most people who often use weed try to find some good deals in order to get it for a lower price. The best way to do this is to buy a lot of weed and store it correctly. A ton of people buy and store a quarter pound of weed. You should know how much is a qp of weed if you like buying in bulk. Make sure that you seal it in airtight jars if you do not want it to lose its freshness.
4. Spend time with people you love – yes your pets count!
Go take a walk with your dog! Pets are great stress relievers, and time spent with them is a surefire way to make you feel better.
Or go get coffee with a friend! We all need human interaction every now and then; real interaction is important to get out of the house from time to time. Just do something outside of the screen and it will help keep your mind sharp.
5. Brain Food
Eat a healthy diet. Consuming the right kind of food can help your body function better and keep your brain healthy! Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables—they’re packed full of vitamins, fiber, and
antioxidants that help keep your brain spinning smoothly.
A healthy diet is one of the best ways to keep your mind sharp, and it can help you prevent or manage issues like depression and anxiety.
It is important to deal with poor mental health. We need to incorporate habits and hobbies into our lives that can help us improve our overall mental well-being.
