Easter comes but once a year, so you may as well try to make it as fun as you can, even if stuck indoors this year. I mean, we have chocolate cravings all year round, so come Easter celebrations, it’s a time to embrace them!
Plus, with the UK currently staying at home for the forseeable, this year we can all make Easter last that little bit longer.
There’s a world of exciting and extraordinary treats out there that you can indulge in to make Easter that little bit sweeter. Plus, even if you do or don’t have kids, you can make the most of having an Easter egg hunt, share some fun with your loved ones, or simply eat copious about of eggs or Easter baking alone in bed in one sitting! Hey, it’s your bank holiday weekend, it’s your Easter, and no ones gonna judge how you choose to spend it!
You can have a go at making hand-painted eggs (like, the real eggs, with a bit of paints or even felt pens or chalk with youngsters), check out dairy free or gluten free eggs, pastel-coloured eggs, do some egg based baking at home (steering away from chocolate, or, you can finish with a chocolate dessert!) – this is the time of year to live out all your Easter fun!
Plan an at-home Easter Egg hunt
Of course, this was going to be on the top of the list. This year, we’ve just got to adapt it to at-home ideas, instead. If you wish, you can take the Easter hunt around your front garden and street (if you live on a quiet estate) but remember it’s best to stay in the home as much as possible.
Start by leaving a clue, for example “where does Baby Theo sleep” – which will take everyone to the babies cot. In the cot, there could be a wrapped up treat (even individually wrapped chocolates/biscuits or anything else similar you have lying around in the cupboard), with another clue, like “where does Dad keep his tools” – hence everyone rushes to the shed!
You can leave an array of treats around the hunt, including special Easter Eggs towards the end of the hunt! Utilise your space as creative as possible. Could you hide something in the washing machine, but decorate the washing machine door with fun streamers made of tissue paper? How about leading them to a shoe cupboard, and filling shoes with smaller eggs stuffed inside funky socks?
Have a Chocolate Themed Bake-Off
You can adapt this whether you have children or not! Have two of you be set a time limit to create an Easter themed bake where their is just one rule: chocolate must be present in the finished result!
Be creative and film the bake off via Time-Lapse, so you can watch it back and laugh!
Get the rest of the family, or your friends via video call, to judge whose chocolate themed bake was the best!
Have a Roast Dinner Around the Table
Eating a roast dinner with family is the best type of meal to have during Easter Sunday, which could be a little tougher this year. If you’re social distancing from your family, why not plan to all have a roast dinner at the same time and then set up your video calls at the same time.
Skype or Zoom can work well for these, Zoom especially if there are lots of you. However, Houseparty lets you play games, so this could be a great one if you have youngsters that want something a little more engaging to do!
Do Some Live Stream Travel
For those feeling sad they can’t travel this Easter (especially those that did have a holiday booked), why not spend an afternoon indulging in some virtual travel?
Not being able to travel to your chosen destination this year is of course a bit rubbish, but the best way to get around this is to gather as a family or couple, and take it in turns to pick a different part of the world to “virtually” travel to.
Head to Google and search for the best live streams from around the globe – plus it’s a great way to learn about different cultures and places from the comfort of your own living room.
