Creating the bedroom you have always dreamed of is important to Housing Units, as the Manchester-based furniture and interior lifestyle store unveil a stunning, brand-new bedroom department.
The store prides itself on retailing some of the most luxurious and premium bed brands out there, along with stylish bedroom interior ranges to match, creating not only the ideal bed offering but the full bedroom package too.
Earlier this week, I visited the new bedroom department in-store and thoroughly enjoyed strolling around the beautifully put-together bedroom layouts. For me, no matter how detailed and informative online shopping is for
bedrooms, nothing beats being there in person, standing in a bedroom setup, sitting on the bed, feeling the mattresses, and getting a feel of the styling and trends ‘in real life.’
This couldn’t be truer for beds, as it’s so important to be able to see the frame, base, and mattress all together – in front of your own eyes and to weigh up the size, depth, and finish. But even more important is the testing of a mattress. Never is a truer word spoken than those who swear by testing the comfort, firmness, or softness of a mattress. Sure, you can read up on the quality and finish, but trying out a mattress for yourself is the only way to guarantee you are going to be happy.
If you need a little help understand how to shop for the perfect mattress, you can always refer to Housing Units handy Mattress Buying Guide, which covers everything from sizes and types, and the all important tension of a mattress.
Bed brands at Housing Units
Housing Units prides itself on offering a wide variety of bed brands, ranging from some of the most well-known and trusted brands to some of the newer, upcoming stylish brands. I personally have Tempur pillows at home, therefore Tempur is one of the brands I am most familiar with.
Since investing in them, I hand on heart swear that my quality of sleep has improved immensely – I cannot rave enough about how Tempur pillows have transformed my sleep. So much so, I am looking into Tempur mattresses as my next upgrade.

I learned from my visit to Housing Unit’s new bedroom department that ViSpring is one of the top brands of beds, offering the most luxurious and premium bed experience. ViSpring beds are all made naturally, and after decades of innovation and countless bespoke mattresses made, they have perfected the art of creating the most quality beds.
When you enter the new bedroom department, you’ll walk through various showroom settings, each one styled to a different trend, style, finish or colourway. When you finish the showroom displays, you then come to a catwalk of beds – a long walkway lined with an array of beds under all the different brands. This represents the ultimate experience in bed shopping, getting to weigh up the different mattresses, headboards, heights, colourways, and materials, all next to each other for easy comparison
Each bed is branded clearly so you can easily skip straight to the brand you have your eye on, or wander down the catwalk of beds to assess each one.

Bedroom Showrooms
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed browsing the selection of bedroom showrooms, each one styled up so beautifully. It’s clear that Housing Units understand that everyone aims to create a comfy, cosy, and practical bedroom haven, but at the end of the day, we all need a helping hand when it comes to visualising how to style a bedroom, and how to choose the right bedroom furniture to reflect this.
We’ve not long since moved into a new build, and I thought we were quite sorted with our bedroom layout until I walked around the Housing Units bedroom department and was completely overwhelmed with stylish bedroom setups. The displays show you everything, from rustic oak themes complete with quality dressing tables and chests of drawers to the more contemporary and ultra-modern bedroom furniture suites. Whether it’s more of a minimalist stark white bedroom you’re after or a cosy wooden cottage feel, the choices displayed in the store are endless.

From my time spent in-store browsing, I fell in love with the Ovidia Grey Bedroom Collection, which was no surprise as I am still very much a firm fan of soft grey in the bedroom. This particular collection took my breath away – it’s an Italian-designed range with clean lines and a sleek, yet striking appearance. This collection brings in wood finishes that are
modernised to look classic yet fit in with a high-fashion theme, without being too minimalistic.
It features an ash silver high gloss finish, lightly reflecting light and adding depth to the room.
I feel the Ovidia collection flatters most interior colour schemes and suits a large array of house styles and types. For example, we have plush grey carpets in our bedroom, and this bedroom collection would perfectly work with this. However, if you wanted to keep a light wooden floor finish, the collection would also lend itself perfectly to this too.
The lighting on display around the Ovidia collection is very industrial looking yet blends in well with the wood tones across the furniture pieces. I feel like this whole bedroom interior look is the perfect mix of sleek and stylish, combined with a warm, cosy bedroom feel. High fashion, without being too ultra-modern or minimalistic.

Bedroom Inspiration
Aside from my favourite bedroom suite above, I surprised myself by being drawn to the wooden, slightly ‘cottage’ themed collections, too. The Tobago reclaimed wood collection appealed to me with its classic wooden look, boasting a rustic, traditional style bedroom with a modern twist. The collection is crafted from reclaimed and recycled wood, giving new life to the otherwise discarded material whilst enhancing any bedroom space.
The gentle curve finishes and beautiful slatted headboard & foot-end mean the Tobago bedstead brings rustic elegance, with the bed becoming a welcoming and attractive focal point to the room. Its matching bedroom furniture sits perfectly alongside the bed, giving lots of versatility to how you wish to style the drawer tops.

The beauty of the showroom setups in-store means that if you are completely open-minded, you can gain a lot of room inspiration from browsing the bedroom setups, without having to pigeonhole yourself into just one colourway or material for finishings.

Whether you are looking for a whole new bedroom suite, a brand-new bed, a mattress update, or inspiration on how to style and accessorise your bedroom, Housing Units new bedroom department will certainly be the helping hand you may need.
It opened my eyes to all the different types of beds and mattresses available, which can be a little overwhelming if you’re starting from scratch. Luckily, the staff on hand in-store are experts in their departments, meaning you have bedroom specialists that can guide you through the entire shopping experience. Housing Units also offer a curtain measuring service and carpet fitting service, so if you need these extras taken care of while planning your perfect bedroom, Housing Units can help out with this too.
A wonderful haven for all things beds and bedroom collections. You can browse the full bedroom collections online to get a good idea of all the styles and ranges before planning an in-store visit if you wish.
