Girl Meets Dress

How many of you have experienced this situation… it’s a week before a big occasion, say a birthday, a friend’s wedding, or just a night when you really need to wow. You fling open your wardrobe, and as much as you have a solid relationship with your trusty LBD or your pretty Lipsy dress, they just don’t fit the bill. You flip through magazines to seek some style inspiration, but Sarah Jessica Parker in her £1,000 Marc Jacobs dress isn’t really justifiable.

Although actually, it can be justifiable. I fell in love with Cheryl Coles Melissa Odabash dress when she appeared on TV a couple of months back, but heading to her flagship store in Notting Hill and parting with £275 when I’m clearly only going to wear it once just isn’t going to happen. That is when I discovered this fabulous little website

Girl Meets Dress has a tag line of ‘Borrow…Party…Return!’, and I believe its exactly what the nation of party-loving, events-attending ladies are looking for. You can search the hundreds of designer dresses at affordable rental prices, which can be owned for 2 nights, or if your going on a holiday you can even hold onto the dress for up to 7 nights. If, like myself, you cant wait to slip into Cheryl’s sleeveless shift dress in French lace, then you can wear it for a snip of the price at £79 for two nights.

The  site has an easy layout where you can browse by occasion, style or designer, and it even comes complete with a designer bag rental section. I may not have many exciting events coming up just yet, but the magazine I write for sometimes treats me to surprise invites to various glamorous fashion show events, and I will definitely be considering Girl Meets Dress when I’m next expected to rock up looking glamorous.

I personally love browsing by ‘occasion’, under this tab it takes away all the hard searching work. You can select any occasion from cocktail party, wedding guest to girls night out, and Girl Meets Dress will provide a list of suitable dresses perfect for the occasion.

There is even a section called ‘Birthday (mine!)’, and OK so my birthday isn’t until May, but there’s no harm in looking. I came across some stunning designer dresses that are definitely within my budget for my birthday dress, and I’m itching to purchase them now! Think I will be making a special visit back to this website in May to choose between Rock n Rose, Yves Saint Laurent and Anna Sui… It’s a hard life…
