Welcome to 2021! January is normally not the most cheerful of months, to say the least, and it’s safe to say many of us are feeling the pinch this year what with the current state of affairs and Christmas just gone by. So, today we are going to take a look at simple ways you can save money on your monthly bills, as believe it or not, there are big savings to be made!
Lighting
Are you still using halogenic bulbs over LEDs in your home? If the answer is yes, then you could be making some great annual savings by making the switch to LEDs. Not only are E27 LED bulbs at Ultra LEDs better for the environment, energy-efficient, and safer to come into contact with (they don’t emit masses of heat), but they can save you a whole load of money over time.
They are great value for a whole host of reasons, as they are cheap to obtain and last a long time, so they don’t have to be replaced often. If you’re not already using LED lights in your home, we highly recommend you look into investing in this type of lighting, as LEDs are just as bright and high-quality as other bulbs, at a better overall cost.
You’ll start to see LED’s being brought in through large scale businesses and trade, too. Lit car parks, retail stores and outdoor spots will be swapping for LED’s in a bid to be more energy efficient, as you can find out here https://www.olympialighting.com/replace-metal-halide-bulbs-with-led/.
Subscriptions
How many subscriptions do you pay for each month? There’s Netflix, Spotify Premium, Amazon Prime, HelloFresh, Apple Music, Disney+ …the list goes on. Now, how many of them do you actually regularly utilise and enjoy? Do you really need so many?
It’s time to evaluate all of them and figure out which are worth the cost. If there are some that you don’t use as often as you should be to getting your money’s worth, then it’s time to get rid. If you change your mind, you can always resubscribe at a later date, and these types of subscription services often send through offers to bring customers back, so see if you can employ these to save some extra cash. Subscription costs can quickly add up – ensure you aren’t wasting money on anything that doesn’t give you what you want.

Phone contract
If you’ve been paying the same price for your phone contract to receive the same package for a number of years, then the likelihood is you are paying too much. Research the best deals online, and if you notice that there are better options, get in touch with your provider and let them know you want them to match or better what you have found or you will take your custom elsewhere.
More often than not, they will negotiate with you and you will come out of the situation with a lower monthly spend or more features for your money. This is similar to different types of services you have too, such as your TV provider, broadband, insurance etc. Get your haggling hat on and make big savings!
Monitor your spends
Know where your money is going. Track and analyse it. This can be done with an app, spreadsheet or you can create a handwritten version. There are plenty of ideas online of ways to do this. If you know where all your money is going, you know how to control it better and what you are spending too much on. This is the best way to budget accordingly and make informed decisions.
