When it comes to skincare treatments, I *like* to think I have tried them all. From the harsher treatments like microneedling, peels and lasers, to the more ‘techy’ ones, like the CACI microcurrent treatment. Then of course there’s your relaxing, refreshing ones, and the deep cleansing microdermabrasions and the hydrofacials.
What I haven’t ever tried before is one that I’ve seen discussed and mentioned across the ‘celeb crowd’ online and on social media – Face Place.
For those not familiar with the brand, Face Place have been treating Hollywood’s A-listers with their skin treatments since 1972, responsible for keeping some of the most famous faces on the planet fresh, glowing and clear. I was recently made aware that the brand was coming to no other than our beloved Manchester, when it was announced that their fourth venue to launch was indeed the multi award winning Hotel Gotham.
For those of you who know Manchester, you’ll know it’s an incredible hotel that has never lost it’s sparkle and pizazz. When Hotel Gotham launched in Manchester, it was seen as luxury and prestigious, the kinda place you dream of staying. I haven’t stayed there, but I have attended many glamorous and super luxe events held by some of the UK’s most premium brands. They chose to host events and meetings there because the venue sells itself – everyone wants an excuse to go in!

I can’t think of a more fitting place to launch Face Place in the UK after it’s two locations in London – Face Place at the Rosewood London, and Face Place at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge. However, you’ll find some of the worlds most well known celebrities turning up at their base in Melrose Avenue West Hollywood.
So, let’s have a look at why I got extremely excited about this launch, as both a skincare enthusiast and someone who craves those glamorous and lifestyle experiences.
By launching Face Place at Hotel Gotham, it adds to the hotels already growing portfolio of luxury bookings. You can have cocktails, wines and champagnes at Club Brass, afternoon tea and delicious meals at Honey, or a relaxing overnight stay at the hotel. Now, you can add one of the most sought after facial treatments to the list, where hotel customers can combine great skin care with a luxury break, lunch or a cocktail.
The luxury facial brands Manchester launch will be great news for those following the brand who have not had the chance to try it out, and also fabulous for those who aren’t based near London, but have been travelling in order to experience the treatments. I personally can’t think of a better place to try the treatment than at a renowned luxury destination hotel, in the heart of such an iconic city.
When I was invited to try it, I jumped at the chance. Now I’m going to be having a couple of treatments so I can properly document my experience, but I was lucky enough to come down last week and chatted to the Face Place therapist who talked me through the treatment I’d be having.
What is the Face Place Signature Treatment Facial?
Face Place takes a clinical approach to skin treatments, aiming to work deep down so that both the dermis and epidermis are clear and healthy. It’s described as a no-nonsense, results driven facial, that aims to leave your skin clear and glowing. My therapist let me slip into a dressing gown before snuggling down on a lovely heated bed, and explained to me all about the treatment while starting off with a deep cleanse.

Face Place’s Signature Treatment begins with a yucca cleanse, followed by an infused heat dome facial sauna preparing the skin for a thorough extraction. I love the feeling of warm, comforting heat on my skin, and the dome felt light and not claustrophobic at all (I can imagine some people may wonder this).
After the deep cleanse and the facial sauna, a Collagen, Vitamin C and Zinc treatment is carried out next. This was described to me as a treatment that infuses the three deep into the skin using Face Place’s famous galvanic current, which also tightens and firms the skin at the same time. I had a slight metallic taste in my mouth at this point which I was reassured this was totally normal, and again, it all just left warm and relaxing.
My therapist explained that anyone can have this skin treatment, as I thought I would check after I have had a few skin peels this year. Each treatment can be tailored to your skin type by the Face Place therapist, as I know it was picked up that my skin was extremely dehydrated, so mine would have been tailored to dry skin.
It was my first session, learning about the treatment and experiencing it, and wow, what a boost it was. I felt incredible after it, and also felt guilty for thinking that after the treatment, I’d look tired and ‘bare faced’, perhaps a little red and not quite confident to see people. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My skin was glowing and I looked bright and fresh. I’ve shared a little snap which I took straight after leaving the treatment and straight onto the platform at Manchester Piccadilly Train Station.

I filmed the experience but my camera was set quite far away, and I think it will work better to show you how it’s done filming my face from above next time. So stay tuned, I’m going to be booking back in and will be going through the process step by step with you all!
