If you’re into your beauty and skincare, you’ll know by now that Elizabeth Arden are the leaders when it comes to capsule skincare. The thing is, I notice some people still look a little blank when capsule serum skincare is mentioned.
This is no new launch – Elizabeth Arden have been retailing their easy-to-use ceramide capsule serums for a long time. The Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules collection covers a wide range of different skincare actives and skin concerns, which have grown over the years, so nowadays, you can really whittle it right down to the capsules that are perfect for your skin needs.
You have everything from Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol and Vitamin C to name a few, which treat dry, dull and uneven skin. There are also capsules which focus much more on tackling fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re about to read this and aren’t too sure what to make of capsules, or if you haven’t used them before, then it could be worth keeping in mind one key point: each capsule contains ceramides, and a pure, potent dose of active skincare ingredients. Each capsule in the jar is sealed to keep the product 100% fresh and effective, providing the purest and most perfect dose for the face, neck and décolleté. So you always know that your serum, ceramides and additional ingredients haven’t been affected by air or external factors.
It’s that alone that has made me much more aware of capsule skincare over the years, as it’s a pretty impressive point!

Last week, I headed to Stock Exchange hotel in Manchester on behalf of Elizabeth Arden and Lookfantastic to explore their capsules in more detail. I have tried them before, but we’re going back such a long time, probably when I had young/mid twenties skin. Now I’m in my thirties, and I was totally up to learning about which capsule was for me, and as always, I was keen to learn more.
Because I’m currently pregnant, I’m a little restricted as to what I can use safely on my skin, and it was best that I dipped out of the facial on offer by Elizabeth Arden that day which used a microcurrent. However, after a professional consultation, discussing my skin concerns and the results I wanted from a skincare regime, the best two types of capsules for me were the Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules Hydra Plumping serum to be used in the morning, and the Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum for evening use.
My skin is dry and slightly dehydrated, so hyaluronic acid is literally my best friend especially in serum form. These particular capsules are packed with HA, and I’ve found the best way so far to get maximum results is to apply them when my skin is slightly damp after cleansing (or using a mist), and then seal it in with a moisturiser straight after. If you’re a newbie to using HA, I honestly recommend using it this way to lock in the moisture it provides.

As for the Advanced Ceramide Capsules, these are more geared towards anti-aging, which lets face it, my 36 year old skin needs as much anti-aging super boosting ingredients as possible! I always think early intervention is key when it comes to easing fine lines and wrinkles, and from speaking to the team at Elizabeth Arden, the Advanced Ceramide Capsules are one of the original formulas from the capsule collection.
The innovative Advanced Ceramide Capsules work by aiming to replenish and restore the ceramides your skin loses with age. From reading up about this serum, the skin-identical Ceramide technology helps strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier layer too. One of the key factors to healthy and youthful skin is a strong, healthy, uncompromised skin barrier – so if you can protect your skin and boost it’s moisture at the same time, you’ll be on the right path to having for a youthful-looking appearance.
I’m half way through my 30 day supply, using a capsule in the evening just before bed. I have to say, the feel and the texture of the capsules is the highlight of my bedtime routine! It’s so silky on the skin, and breaking open the capsule and massaging in the smooth serum makes my facial regime feel that little more ‘boujee’.
These particular capsules are said to be ‘triple-powered capsules of youth’ that focus on enhancing skins’ barrier repair function, increasing moisturisation within the surface of the skin, and minimize the appearance of aging signs. I’m all up for finishing the jar and then going again for month too!

I’m not yet a month into using the capsules morning and night, but I do feel that when these are used properly, with products which compliment and boost the serums, I’ll be very impressed with them. I love that it’s the finest ingredients working their magic from when you open up each little capsule, and the range available at Elizabeth Arden ensures that each one is targeted to your every concern.
Next year when I’m no longer pregnant, and another year older, I think I will try the retinol capsules too, for that extra boost against tackling fine lines and firming my skin. You can find out more about the capsules from Elizabeth Arden at lookfantastic here, but it’s also worth speaking to the ladies on an Elizabeth Arden counter if you wanted an in-person consultation regarding the exact one for you.
