You may have seen that recently, I went a more cleaner, ashier blonde at my recent hair appointment (blog post and new hair pics over here!)
In a bid to keep my newer, fresher, whiter blonde more ‘white’ and to avoid those orangey, brassy tones creeping in., I’ve naturally turned back to purple/blue shampoos. I’ve used a fair few in my time, and the last one I was happy with was Matrix Brass Off, which did leave my blonde much more crisp with less warm tones.
However, I heard raving reviews recently around the newest launch by Redken, so I was keen to check it out…
The brand have launched Colour Extend Blondage, with new ultra violet pigment and Triple Acid Protein complex tones, aimed to help you ‘break up with brassy blonde’ this summer!
The range includes a colour depositing shampoo and conditioner which is available at Redken salons nationwide and on LookFantastic.com.
It literally launched in June, retailing at £16.50 for the shampoo, and £17 for the conditioner (however it looks like LookFantastic has a sale on!)
If you’re anything like me, you’ll find you love being blonde but have concerns about breakage and brassiness, constantly. My hair always goes so much warmer, with brassy orangey tints as the weeks go on.
As breakage and brassiness are mainly the key concerns blondes tend to have, Redken have really hit the nail on the head with their Color Extend Blondage professional haircare range – their first to include customised solutions for anti-brass toning with proactive strengthening.
But here’s a warning: be careful how long you leave it on for. I was using the Color Extend Blondage Shampoo twice a week, massaging in for just 2 minutes. I also used the Color Extend Blondage Conditioner twice a week too, leaving on for the same amount of time.
However, when I got carried away once, I left the shampoo on for 5-6 minutes and the blondest parts of my hair at the front turned a little too grey/white/purple toned – so guys, this stuff is potent!
It really does do what it says it does…
The photos in this blog post show my hair a day after washing and conditioning, in natural day light, to show you the crisp shade and clean blonde it now shows.
However, this photo below is what happened when I left the shampoo on for 3 minutes too long! Look closely at the front of my hair… I mean, I actually love it! But I’m leaving it here to show you how it intensifies the longer it is left on…
Up to now, this range is my current favourite! Well done Redken
