If you love beauty and fashion like me, then you may have the dream of one day creating your own special beauty room at home. Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to move into my very own home, with the added addition of something I have never had before – my own spare room! Using a spare room to create your own beauty space will not only provide you with somewhere to escape and pamper yourself, but is also ideal if you are planning to set up your own beauty business and need a space where you can practice different beauty techniques or create your own clothes.

I for one officially use my beauty room as an office and pampering space to run my beauty blog, carry out my makeup trials, review all my new products and carry out my photography.

If your lucky enough to able to create your own too, then choosing the right décor and furniture is one of the most important things to consider when building a beauty room. One of the first things to think about is furniture: your beauty room will be storing a wide range of products, from clothes and accessories, to makeup and hair products, so select furniture that provides plenty of storage. There is a wide range of vanity units available that will provide sufficient storage, from stylish, modern units to more vintage designs, so you can easily find something that will suit your needs.

Adding a wardrobe or a chest of drawers will also provide plenty of space for clothes, makeup and accessories. There are furniture sets available, which is ideal if you want your furniture to match. If you are planning to use your beauty room to provide treatments for others, then you will also need to add a comfortable sofa or a beauty chair. If your beauty room is a little on the small side, then consider adding space saving furniture and accessories such as shelves.

I’ve managed to kit my room out with the shelving units which are hidden away with wardrobe doors with mirrors on – super ideal!

For the colour scheme, you may wish to opt for soft pastels, as these will keep your beauty room feeling light and airy whilst providing a stylish, elegant look. Consider adding accessories, such as a few lamps or some wall art, to help add a modern touch to your beauty room. Wall stickers are particularly popular in hair and beauty rooms, so will be a great addition if you are aiming to re-create this look for your own.

Choosing the right lighting is also important. In addition to choosing bright colour schemes, it also helps to have plenty of natural light in your room. Shutters are a particularly useful addition to a beauty room. Choosing the finest wooden shutters will not only help to add style to your beauty room but also make it more practical. Shutters provide plenty of natural light and can easily be adjusted to control the amount of light in the room. With so many styles available, you can easily find shutters that will complement the rest of your décor.

By selecting the right furniture, colour schemes and lighting, you can create a perfect beauty room that is suitable for use all year round. A stylish, practical and comfortable beauty room will provide the perfect place to escape and pamper yourself, run your blog, or practice your beauty and makeup skills!
