Beauty: bareMinerals Face and Lip Products

Today’s beauty post is an exciting one for me, as I get to test out popular brand bareMinerals after being intrigued for so long! bareMinerals launched many years ago, and I have regularly seen the brand in department stores and on QVC over time, but have never treated myself to try the brand despite all the amazing things I have heard about them- including all the benefits of switching to mineral based make-up.

The make-up products I am testing on today include bareMinerals Kissing Booth lipglosses, Ready Bronzer in The High Dive, Touch-up Viel Finishing Powder in Medium and the Prime Time Foundation Primer…

Firstly, if you have any girl friends you want to treat this Christmas or have a nice budget for secret santa, the Kissing Booth lipgloss set is wonderful – it features 6 marvelous moxie colours, all with cream or shimmering finishes. The colours come in pinks, peaches and plums: Big Tease, Lucky Lady, Sweet Kisser, Major Flirt, Thrill Seeker and Jezebel. They glide on easily and look ultra sleek when applied. I’m more of a lipstick wearing girl, but these don’t feel sticky (I have the whole hair-stuck-on-my-lips fear with lipglosses) and seem to blend into lips quickly providing a pretty flash of colour. I love the shimmery ones especially, they are really special for evening make-up.

Today, I popped on Major Flirt – and it’s quickly becoming my favourite! The set costs £25 from bareMinerals and it’s actually limited edition so hurry if you need this for Christmas!

I was even more thrilled to try out the bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer, as I actually don’t have a primer at present after running out of my Smashbox one. I was up for trying a new brand, but with primers it’s quite difficult to get a good recomendation as it all depends on your age and skin type. For me, a good one is a primer which glides on with a velvety feel, and leaves skin with that smoothing touch. It should be thick enough to get into the fine lines and uneven skin textures, so that it plumps out and gives a base which makes your foundation appear smoother.

I have tried the bareMinerals Primer now on two occasions, and I have to say it’s a nice product which delivers what it says it does. It achieves what I expect from an award winning primer – my pores look smaller, fine lines seem more faint around my mouth area, and leaves my skin prepped with absolutely no tackiness whatsoever. I also feel a good primer should elongate the wear you get from your foundation, and as I have foundation on from 7am til 9pm, I felt it helped with the staying power and really helped create that firm yet moisturising base. For £21, it’s worth the money, and I’m more than happy to continue using this.

As I have fairly dull skin which needs exfoliating often, I’d like to try the Prime Time Brightening Primer next time too…

As for the Touch up Veil Finishing Powder and Ready Bronzer, I have to say these are super cute. The little mirrored compacts and rubbery type finished cover make these perfect to pop in your hand bag and carry with you for on-the-go beauty. At first, I noticed the Touch up Veil had a strong scent, but it’s quite medicinal in a strange way which makes me think it’s the more natural mineral ingredients leading to this. The powder sits on top of foundation flawlessly and gave me a non-shiny face for the whole day. I used the bronzer for under my cheekbones and temples, and loved it’s non-shimmer effect yet it doesn’t leave that flat matte finish either. These both feel like luxury products, and even though I have only used these twice too, I’m already convinced.

Here’s my tried face wrapped up with a winter warmer scarf wearing the new products…

Overall, I have to say my first experience using bareMinerals in a very positive one. The products work brilliantly and knowing that they haver mineral ingredients makes me feel even more confident wearing them. I would love to venture out and try the foundations next – I’ll be keeping you posted!
