Beauty: bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Tinted Gel

So in an attempt at being more ‘frugal’ whilst I’ve just done the grown-up thing of buying a house, I’ve been making a change to my beauty regime. Instead of wearing my full coverage, higher priced priced foundations everyday (such as my MAC Studio Fix – which I love dearly) I’ve been trying to save them and only wear them for weekend evenings or those special occasions. So the question is – what have I been putting on my face during the weekdays for everyday wear? For work, I have been switching my foundations for CC creams, and more recently, I’ve been wearing a the new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream.

So what is the beauty-world-loving hype around this product? Basically, it’s a hydrating gel cream that’s the middle ground between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. Instead of piling on my usual full coverage foundation once my moisturiser has settled in, I can apply the hydrating gel when I’m in a rush during my get-ready-for-work routine and be assured I have applied a moisturising base as well as a form of coverage. I find this product provides a similar type of coverage to that of BB and CC creams, which I have been switching to anyway in aid of saving my foundations. The shade I am currently using is Vanilla 02 – which is a nice creamy fair shade which is a really nice match for my skin tone.

When I apply this gel, I start with just one coat and use a brush to ‘buff’ it into my skin if I want a more groomed ‘flawless’ look. Although if I’m in a mega rush – which I usually am- I just glide and rub it in with my fingers. It does blend in really well and feels so light to apply. If I need a little extra coverage under my eyes or on a blemish, then I layer this up with my fingers as the final application. The nice thing about this product is it’s totally up to you how much you need to use and you can adapt how much you layer on depending on the occasion.

Below is a before photo (eeek – me with no make up, how lovely), followed by my face wearing just the Complexion Rescue Hydrating Gel, followed by bareMinerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder being applied onto as long with a touch of eye make-up and MAC Powder Blusher shade ‘Gingerly’.

And drumroll please . . .  just a small application of this hydrating gel finished with the Mineral Veil setting powder and topped up with the ‘usual’s’ (blusher et al… you know, our beauty saviours!) allows me to walk out of the house and head to work without looking dead. You’d possibly never guess I only rack up around 5 hours sleep a night thanks to this! Also, priced at £26.00, it’s also oil, silicone, and paraben free and comes in 10 shades, so every skin tone has one to two shades to play around with. It will also be coming on holiday with me this year as it’s an SPF 30. Take a bow, Complexion Rescue. You certainly save my days…

I love bareMinerals! For someone with bad skin their foundations are usually good for me. I have the blotchiest skin so it’s hard trying to find the right coverage so I might give this one a go and see if this one might work. Thanks 🙂 x

No problem Ally, it is a really nice light coverage for daytime use I would say! I need heavier for the evenings but it’s really nice for the day… x
