Millionaires don’t have to be stingy when it comes to style. But which brands do the rich trust when it comes to fashion and cars? Let me tell you this: they are brands that you can’t afford, unless you’ve won a big lottery jackpot and have become a millionaire yourself.
If you’re into luxury or know a little about the high-end industry, you might already be familiar with most of the brands favoured by the affluent. We can think of the luxury fashion and car houses that we see in billionaires’ collections, but which ones are the most successful and best-selling around the world?
Of course, the richest people in the world don’t spend all their money on the most popular brands. Some even avoid cars or luxury clothing altogether. However, many others are loyal to specific brands that maintain their prestige and high standards and are truly reserved only for those who can afford to buy them.
The most popular luxury brands on the internet
Over the years, the top luxury brands ranking has proven to be an important and reliable indicator of their development.
Personal luxury goods are the second largest segment of the luxury industry after luxury cars. Sales of the personal luxury goods market have been growing steadily over the past decade barring the setback the world have witness in 2020. Personal luxury goods refer to high-quality products, which include clothing, watches, jewellery, cosmetics, and fashion accessories and are characterized by high-quality materials, first-class craftsmanship, and special aesthetics.
According to a Deloitte survey, the top 100 luxury goods companies had combined sales of $305 billion in 2021, up 21.5% year-on-year. By 2025, global personal luxury goods sales are expected to increase by $80 billion. By then, 30% of global luxury sales will be online as more and more consumers will buy big-brand products online. This is largely because many people turned to online shopping to stay in touch with their brands back in 2020.
However, the data from the Luxe Digital study does not show the best-selling brands but rather the most popular brands by brand equity, search volume, and social media conversations. These are:
- Gucci – fashion
- Dior fashion
- Chanel – fashion
- Louis Vuitton – fashion
- Hermes – fashion
- Rolex watches
- Tiffany – jewellery
- Prada fashion
- Versace – fashion
- Ralph Lauren – fashion

The world’s best-selling luxury brands
This second study is more meaningful. It is the 2022 ranking of the leading luxury or premium brands. Almost all of these brands have increased in value in recent years. For example, Porsche’s brand value falls 2% to $33.7 billion, yet remains at the top of the world’s most valuable luxury brands for another year. Certainly, was Louis Vuitton, one of the many high-end brands that have benefited from increased demand for their products 2020, as many invested more money in luxury products due to travel and curfew restrictions. The brand’s value rose 58% to $23.4 billion. What is interesting is the similarities in terms of popularity and success of several brands that also feature here compared to the previous edition.
Within the ranking of leading luxury brands worldwide by brand value, the main number of top brands are of French origin. Gucci, Rolex, Burberry, and Prada, brands from Italy, Great Britain, and Switzerland, complete the ranking of the most valuable international luxury brands.
- Porsche cars
- Louis Vuitton – fashion
- Gucci – fashion
- Chanel – fashion
- Hermes – fashion
- Cartier – jewellery
- Dior fashion
- Rolex watches
- Ferrari cars
- Estée Lauder – Cosmetics
- Tiffany & Co – Jewellery
- Coach – fashion
- Burberry fashion
- Lancome – Cosmetics
- Ray-Ban – glasses
- Omega watches
- Moncler fashion
- Saint Laurent – fashion
- Prada – fashion
- Bvlgari watches
- Clarins – cosmetics
- Bentley cars
- TAG Heuer watches
- SK-II – cosmetics
Of course, the popularity of brands and their history have an impact on whether they retain their prestige and preference among shoppers today. At the top of this list are car products like Ferrari, Bentley, and Porsche, which may be among the favourite brands of the wealthy or make the most money selling their products. However, all of these brands are also among the most expensive in the world, which affects their profitability and appeal to those who can afford to buy them.
