I for one started the pandemic being a workaholic, squeezing in trips across my weekends with my partner, where we would look for places in busy, bustling towns with some nightlife. Now, I’m suddenly a Mum to a 14 month old, and we get married in May. So we’re now scoping out quiet, peaceful holiday destinations, with quality cuisine and family friendly hotels. This time around, we want a premium feel and that luxurious touch to a holiday.

1. Egypt
The land of pharaohs, pyramids, deserts and camels, bordering the waters of the Mediterranean. Egypt is known from the arid Sahara to the fertile banks of the Nile, and over recent years has become a perfect holiday and travel destination for those who love to explore. If you are considering a trip to Egypt, you should consider the desert climate it has, as there are big differences between day and night. In the hot summer from May to October, temperatures rise well above 30 degrees, so be aware of it’s heat! Temperatures range from 10 to 15 degrees at night, which is ideal for evening strolls and enjoying the entertainment.
2. Spain
Spain once again appears in the hotlist because it is so versatile, and isn’t too far to travel from the UK, making it an option for those with young families. Beyond Spain’s more ‘typical’ cities and towns where tourists and graduates from The TEFL Academy UK have flocked lies the more luxurious holiday spots, like Marbella and La Cerquilla. These destinations offer the finest dining spots across Spain, with the cleanest streets and well-looked after bars, restaurants, beach clubs and villas.

3. Crete
Of all the Greek islands, Crete has stepped forward in recent years for offering a luxury holiday which caters for many different people. 5. Anguilla
It might not ring a bell, but according to Lonely Planet, this island belongs on your bucket list. Anguilla is located in the Caribbean and is part of the Lesser Antilles. It is an original colony of England and is still part of the British Overseas Territories.
The Caribbean beaches, the colourful underwater world, the tropical temperatures and the luxurious range of hotels and restaurants make the island a traveller’s paradise. You can also easily travel to the nearby islands of St Maarten and St Barthélemy. 6. Slovenia
It was already known that the Eastern Bloc has some pearls of destinations. The nature, the mountains, the blue water and the historic cities have attracted a lot of attention. But according to Lonely Planet, Slovenia is not to be missed. The country has a mix of Balkan, Mediterranean and Alpine feel, and is a hit for younger travellers, like couples exploring the world together!
Relatively speaking, the country is not very big, so you can see a lot of Slovenia in a short time. From Lake Bled to the capital Ljubljana. The well-known Michelin restaurant guide awarded seven restaurants in Slovenia with stars this year, so it’s also possible to eat well there.
7. Belize
Maybe not everyone knows it, but Belize is in Central America, on the border between Mexico and Guatemala. Although officially the British Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state of Belize, the country is known for its Mayan ruins, Caribbean waters and nature. The Belize Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful underwater landscapes in the world and comparable to the famous Great Barrier Reef in Australia. In addition to its natural beauty, Belize also offers luxurious resorts that cater to visitors looking for a luxurious and relaxing vacation experience.
8. Mauritius
The island of Mauritius is located near Madagascar in Africa and is a regular on these type of holiday roundup lists. It is one of the best places to go for luxury trips, especially honeymoons. 9. Norway
Norway is a favourite on many peoples lists, in a different way to the places listed above. The country is known not only for its prosperity and happiness, but also for its school system and approach to government, which often serve as models for other countries. The forested surroundings, fjords, glaciers and lakes compel travellers to get out into nature. Northern lights, ice hotels and husky treks: you’ll find it all in Norway. It’s an eye opening place to visit, where you’ll love to watch the locals appreciation for life, and the slow pace they have.
10. Cook Islands
At the very other end of the world, near New Zealand, lies the Cook Islands group. These fifteen small islands are covered in mountains, jungle, lagoons, waterfalls and pearly white beaches. The largest island is Rarotonga, but all the islands are perfect for snorkelling, diving and water sports. If you want to escape to somewhere not many people know about, and quite like the thrill of adventure holidays and taking up activities, it is totally worth looking into the Cook Islands.
