Fagrances are always an ideal gift for Christmas, appearing in every relatable gift guide online. But, Christmas gifts aside, fragrances are a traditional, loved-all-year-round gift, which are equally as great to receive at Christmas, as well as treating yourself to after Christmas (if you’re lucky enough to get some Christmas money!).
The main mistake people make when it comes to gifting fragrances for Christmas, or for simply buying for themselves, is following the big trends and trying to get their hands on the hottest new release. Sure, there can be some fabulous new launches, but remember that there are classic, timeless brands and scents that are best-sellers every year for a reason.
For example, I used to religiously buy Hot Couture by Givenchy every single year since I discovered it back in university (we’re talking around 14 years ago). My Mum would buy it me, but occasionally I would buy it myself as a treat with Christmas or birthday money, too.
This list here shares some classic, top fragrance brands that bring out scents that don’t follow perfume trends, and instead are what I like to call ‘evergreen’ perfumes – that can be enjoyed year after year.
5 Classic Fragrance Brands Worth Buying for 2022
So if you’re a little stuck which female perfumes to buy this year for gifts or even for yourself, hopefully this list will give some insight and inspiration:

Flower by Kenzo
First up is the well-loved brand Kenzo, and the iconic Flower. This particular gift set earns itself our number one spot as it comes in a fully recyclable coffret box with a customisable label, perfect for a loved one you are buying for. It looks super stylish with it’s urban outer packaging box, with recyclable cardboard and paper.
Flower by Kenzo has been a popular fragrance choice for many years, and it never fails to impress the ladies. It has a note combination of Bulgarian Rose, Wild Hawthorn, Cassie and Palma Violets muddled with base notes of Hedione and Cyclosal, and base notes of white musk and vanilla. It’s truly feminine, yet doesn’t have that over-powering ‘too girly’ and sweet feel to it, which is why it has passed the test of time.
This Christmas giftset, made in France, is entirely made of cardboard and paper from responsible sources. It is 100% recyclable and is a true failsafe this Christmas, or a spoil yourself treat. It retails at £47.00 from Boots.

Jimmy Choo I Want Choo
For those who have a penchant for the designer brands, and love a slice of luxury, the new Jimmy Choo I Want Choo fragrance is beautiful scent in a gorgeous bottle that makes the perfect premium treat. This powerful, floral fragrance has seductive notes of velvet which makes it a deep perfume with a slight sweet and fruity lingering scent. It features Peach, Red Spider Lilly and Vanilla, and is perfect for evenings and occasions. It retails at £65.00 for the set below, and it’s sassy, bold red and white packaging gives this set that wow factor for unwrapping this Christmas.

Abercrombie and Fitch Naturally Fierce
Stylish, aspirational brand Abercrombie and Fitch have a beautifully packaged set for their Naturally Fierce fragrance, which comes with a 15ml travel spray too. Just like the brands trendy reputation, this fragrance is chic and sophisticated, with light floral and woody musk notes entwined together.
At first, the scent gives off a sunny embrace of vivid cactus water, sweet agave and solar blooms which envelop and carry you to a heart infused with sweet orange blossom, plumeria, and creamy coconut. Then, the secondary scents are more warmer notes, mainly sandalwood and drenched vetiver which gives a deeper feel. It’s a fragrance designed to empower women and let the wearer feel both strong and sexy.
The brand say that the fragrance “is an invitation to laugh, love, and be 100% your natural self”, so if you know a lady who needs to feel more sure of herself and ‘own it’, this fragrance gives a fabulous, empowering message! This 50ml fragrance is accompanied by a perfect sized purse spray, and available at The Fragrance Shop for £58.00/€69.00.

Coach for Her
A more classic and grown up fragrance which makes the round-up list is Coach for Her – a floral, fruity scent inspired by the spontaneous energy and chic downtown style of New York City. Coach EDP opens with bright, sparkling Raspberry notes which gives way to creamy Turkish Roses, before drying down to a sensual Suede Musk base note.
It’s perfect for wearing right through from day to night, and is truly girly and feminine. It’s bottle is modern and elegant, looking luxurious and expensive on any bedside table or dresser.
The set below contains the Eau de Parfum 90ML + Eau de Parfum 7.5ML + 100ML BODY LOTION, available at John Lewis for £69.00.

Elie Saab Le Parfum Lumiere

A newer launch, the Elie Saab Le Parfum Lumiere is the ultimate treat-yourself-fragrance which looks glamorous and prestigious in it’s sparkling gold bottle. If you’re looking to indulge yourself with a new fragrance that makes you feel extra special, or to treat someone else to a show stopping perfume gift, this one needs to be on your radar.
Elie Saab le parfum lumière captures the sensual sparkle of light, not only with it’s bottle and packaging design, but with it’s soft scent that has generous fruity notes of mandarin and orange blossom. It’s a fresh, amber floral fragrance for women, launched in 2021. Those who like zestier fragrances which are light with musk and woody undertones will adore this girly fragrance, both sensual and soft. Elie Saab, as most of us know, is a designer label known for it’s gorgeous, show stopping couture dresses, and this fragrance falls in line with the brands stance. It’s chic, voluptuous and addictive – definitely one for the fashionistas and the style conscious too! The fragrance retails for £66 from Boots.
