When people ask me what my true thoughts are on anti aging products, eye creams and trying to achieve ‘wrinkle free’ skin, I find they ask me it because they haven’t seen much improvement themselves. Of course, I’m in my mid thirties, so I can’t exactly say that I have too many deep signs of aging, but I do have quite prominent lines around and under my eyes, and my skin is starting to lack the bounce and firmness it once had in it’s twenties.
I have tried and tested many many skincare brands, alongside having treatments done regularly (like skin peels and facials), and can really only say that retinol is your best friend if you want to see some form of difference. The difference could be tiny, or it could be impressive, but regardless, I have only found that it’s retinol infused products which give the results people want to see.
If you’ve never used retinol before, starting to use it comes with a little warning that your skin may need to take time to adjust to it. It’s usually advised that you start off with one or two nights a week, before getting into a nightly or daily regime. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I am always talking about the Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser, so it’s no secret I’m a die hard fan of the brand. But when it comes to anti-aging skincare, it’s the Murad Resurgance Retinol Youth Renewal range that I really do love. I’ve been using it – on and off I’ll admit – for the last year, an every time I get into the habit of making this a regime, I always feel like my skin looks ‘eased’. It’s a funny word to use, I know, but that’s really the main way I can try to describe it!

There are three key products within the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal range, and I’ll list each one below with their benefits, etc. I’ve been trying my best to use all three so they can conplement each other, although during times when I am stripping back my skincare a little and going very gentle, it may be that I use one of them every other night or so. The main one I return to the most is the Night Cream, mainly because I use SPF day creams often, and I do go through periods where I skip using eye products (I know, I definitely shouldn’t as that is actually where my main signs of aging sits).
Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream
Let’s start with the one I use the most, the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream which aims to rejuvenate the skin while the body sleeps. Now I’m not a great sleeper, so can’t help but think if I got a few more zzzz’s behind me each night, my skin care would stand more of a fighting chance, but it is what it is. I definitely need a powerful moisturiser that is designed to work on aging and improving skin texture and tone, and I’ve found the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal to be one of the most impressive I’ve ever used.
I’ve always been an advocate for retinol – if you should focus on one ingredient for anti-aging, it should be this in my opinion. Of course, retinol can be quite strong for some, so if you want to try this product, I’d use on and off for the first few nights. The night cream combines a fast-acting retinoid for quick results with a time-released retinol and a retinol booster, for ongoing results, I found I didn’t experience any redness when using this, but my skin is very used to retinol. It always feel hydrated the next morning after using this, and although I never think a skincare product can magically erase lines and wrinkles, mine always look less obvious, perhaps more ‘eased’, but it’s my overall skin texture and tone that looks fresh, clearer and refined that I love.
To sum it up, it’s packed with effective amounts of retinol, works to strengthen the skins protective barrier which is key when aging, hydrates and nourishes, and works to keep boosting the skins elasticity for helping to ease those lines!

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum
As mentioned, I need to start getting better at incorporating an eye serum/eye cream to my daily skincare regime. Again, I mainly see results when I’ve used one loaded with retinol (but only lightly, the delicate eye area with the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum, a skincare treatment utilising the power of Retinol Tri-Active technology to help minimise the visible signs of ageing around the eye.
Formulated with a fast-acting retinoid, the Retinol Tri-Active Technology works to deliver quick results, while a time-released retinol and a retinol booster provide ongoing care, helping to reduce the look of lines and wrinkles for a firmer, more youthful appearance. For me, I’ve never had ground-breaking results from an eye serum or cream, however…. I can say I have certainly seen the skin around my eye looking brighter, less tired, more ‘lifted’ and somewhat contributing to me looking – excuse my wording – less ‘haggered’! And this serum if the one that has done that. Trust me, I’ve used loads in the past which led me to give up using eye creams for a while.
It’s blended with cotton wool grass extract for 24-hour hydration and a marine kelp complex to provide a lift to the skin. If you want to start using an eye product which is going to start reducing the dark circles, easing crows feet and slightly lifting, I would highly recommend it!

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum
This Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum is one of newest of the Murad products I started getting into. In case your wondering, I use the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser a lot, and have been a solid fan for many years. Second to that it was a wide range of products from the Vita-C range at Murad, and then the retinol range more recently. This serum in particular is quite new to my regime, but so far I only have glowing reviews personally from it, when used in conjunction with the night cream.
I’m still a newbie with this, as I haven’t been constant with this although I have been much better at getting used to using it in the past fortnight. I was worried my skin would be quite sensitive to using the retinol serum along with the night cream, but it hasn’t been at all. Although quality retinol, it’s very gentle, making it a great option for those with sensitive skin to get results.
In the words of Murad, there is up to 250% more renewing power than traditional retinol with Retinol Tri-Active Technology. So it’s a pretty effective serum for those serious about tackling easing fine lines and improving the texture of their skin. It absorbs really quickly, no sticky texture, and if you like, you can always apply a tiny bit and then top up with your favourite creamier, SPF moisturiser if you wish.
I’ve always recommended Murad over the years, as I’ve not yet been disappointed. If you’re a fellow Murad fan, do let me know in the comments! You can find the full range at Murad or FeelUnique.
