For those who have been following me for a while on either Instagram, or the blog or another channel, you’ll know I share lots and lots of skincare finds. Everything from sustainable and recycled, professional and clinic grade, to natural and vegan, and salon grade acid led. However, today’s write up is on something kinda different – fermented skincare – in which beauty brand Florena is making noise!
Florena is a new skincare brand which has head to the high street, offering affordable prices yet keeping to it’s natural and sustainable routes. To me, this is the main way forward for the future of skincare. However, a lot of brands out there are hiking up the prices as they boast their sustainable stance and impressive line up of natural ingredients, making it unattainable for customers.
The Florena Skincare brand flips this on it’s head, with a skincare collection designed to celebrate natural and sustainable products, without breaking the bank..
What is fermented skincare?
Fermented skincare is beauty taking on a fermentation process, in which FLORENA’s® fermentation process transforms carefully selected flowers and precious oils, turning them into powerful beauty actives. This fermentation process is so effective because it enhances the ingredients with 10 times more antioxidants, therefore enriching the formulas with skin boosting Omega fatty acids. The results can only be achieved through the unique fermentation process, making this brand stand out in it’s own right.
The fermentation aspect is still in keeping with producing a range that is full of vegan friendly formulas and packed with natural ingredients and fragrances. And when I mentioned that they are now High Street ready, it’s Boots you need to head to to shop them.
Let’s have a look at some of my thoughts of the products, which landed on my desk a couple of weeks ago….

FLORENA Nourishing Night Cream
First up, you all know I’m a packaging buff. The pretty pink pastel floral design in a beautiful white jar was a nice touch to my skincare shelf when I added this new product earlier this month.
The second thing that stood out for me after it’s lovely appearance was the texture. I’d describe this night cream as thick and creamy, yet it didn’t sit on the skin at all, absorbing fast into my skin. It feels rather luxurious to massage in, although note you only really need a tiny amount! It’s ideal for all skin types, but I’d say if you have dry skin, you’re potentially going to reap the best rewards! I have combination skin, and I felt this cream worked wonders on my drier cheeks than on my oily T-Zone.

FLORENA 24H Hydrating Day Cream
This smells very floral – it reminds me of a fresh flower bouquet but without being too powerful. The day cream is a slightly lighter texture than the nourishing night cream. It feels lovely and light when applied, and actually acts as a nice primer for makeup. It leaves skin subtly glowy and refreshed, in which makeup has glided on effortlessly afterwards. If you have oily skin, this moisturiser possibly won’t mattify for you, but instead leave radiance, so of course it depends what type of finish you prefer, but it worked very well for me.
Very soft, supple skin after a few days of using, and kept my skin feeling moisturised throughout the day.
FLORENA 24H Hydrating Face Mask
I am a sucker for a good hydrating face mask, and this one is designed to give that immediate moisture boost – something my dry cheeks need! The mask is made from fermented Camellia Sinensis and fermented Olive Oil, for the ultimate hydration and nourishing boost. to give your skin an intensive moisture boost. It’s a thick creamy product again like the night cream, and sits on the skin well while soaking in and working it’s magic. I left on for close to 10 minutes, before rinsing away with lukewarm water. It didn’t make my skin feel a little dry or ‘pulled’ which some of the more clarifying face masks can do. You can find the FLORENA 24H Hydrating Face Mask over on the FLORENA website here.

Overall, a really nice breath of fresh air to the beauty industry. If you’re into your skincare a little like I am, you’ll know the market can be over saturated. I do always look for a bit of a ‘wow’ USP before reviewing and sharing a new skincare brand, and I would say FLORENA definitely has this. The fermentation of natural ingredients to produce a vegan friendly brand at affordable High St prices is just what the beauty industry needed! I expect to see this brand appear lots in the future ….
