Back in my early and mid twenties, I was afraid to spend money on skincare and makeup. I would purchase Estee Laudee Double Wear foundation which at the time retailed for about £25, and that was as far as my debit card would allow.
Fast forward to my early thirties (OK who am I kidding, I’m 35 so I am definitely mid thirties), I have completely changed my mindset. Although the beauty industry is always going to be out to make money and profit, there are some brands and products which are worth splashing the cash on. It’s all about ingredients, and as I’ve gotten older and been heavily invested in the skincare buisness for years, I’ve learnt when is best to flash the cash, and when to save those pennies.
In a nutshell, investing in your skin is a very good use of your money, but of course, many people don’t know how to do this properly. Anti-aging is by far the area which is worth the £££, but there are a lot of brands and products out there which can make everything confusing. This is where it’s key to look at ingredients and textures, and to understand exactly what your skin needs.
After cleansing, remember that there is that step before your moisturiser or night cream which I like to call ‘the treatment step’. This is where you should use a product specific for your skin concern, whether it be acne, pigmentation, anti aging or dry skin – whatever is personal to you. For the product I’m raving about in today’s post, it’s all about the anti-aging step and how I have had great results from Guinot’s Age Immune Serum.
Firstly, let’s address the elephant in the room. It isn’t cheap. A 30ml bottle can retail at around £200, so it’s what I like to call an investment product. The price is reflective of it’s highly effective ingredients which are designed to work together for the best results in anti-aging, and I’m always happy to see these ingredients pop up when it’s an anti aging product which also address hydration, too:
Hyaluronic Acid: Promotes the synthesis of natural hyaluronic acid to smooth away wrinkles and plump the ski
Stabilised Vitamin C: Helps correct pigmentation irregularities, adds radiance to the skin and smooths the skin’s texture
Rambuten Leaf Extract: Stimulates the synthesis of elastic fibres and promotes their correct assembly for a stronger and denser network
56 Cellular Ingredients: Stimulates regeneration and cell metabolism by providing the elements essential to cellular life and development
Hyaluronic acid is literally the superhero ingredient for ensuring skin stays hydrated, so I always like to see it in an anti aging product. I noticed after using this serum after cleansing for 3 weeks, my skin around the sides of my mouth and from my crows feet to temples felt so much more hydrated, very lightly smoothing the millions of tiny fine lines I have in both those areas. Alongside the smoothness, I noticed a more overall plumped finish to the skin, again around those two wrinkle prone areas, but also on my cheeks too.
The plumpness I experience from a couple of days in using the serum, and then the smoother wrinkle areas a week or two later (I’d say around week 3). The overall texture began to feel much firmer by the start of week 4, which I think – from research – could be down to the Rambutan Leaf Extract.
As with all products than contain stabilised Vitamin C, I expected to see an improvement to my skins natural glow, which again, I noticed pretty quickly, around the end of week 1, start of week 2. Mainly my cheeks, which started to look fresher and more radiant. I’d say this became more enhanced after a month of using the product, when I think the continued use of Vtamin C started to work to shed away and correct the light pigmentation on both my forehead and cheeks. I also have acne marks and redness from breakouts, which I wouldn’t say this product is designed to tackle, but the redness certainly seemed soothed which is a bonus!
When further doing some research into this product, I came across this quote from the brand: “Unlike any other anti-ageing Guinot product in the Longevity range, NEW Serum Age Immune is unique because it activates the skin’s immune system to repair and protect cell DNA”. Now that I like the sound of, and with my positive results so far, I’m going to keep on using this, despite the more premium price tag!
If you want your collagen protecting, along with skin smoothness, hydration, a fresh glow and silky-to-touch skin, I can say you get all of this with repeated use of this luxury serum. I was so impressed with it, hence almost finishing the tube and eyeing up buying another! You can find out more about the product here.
