If you have read my skincare reviews on this blog before, or watch my Instagram stories from time to time, you’ll know I rave about retinol. It’s what I call the evening drink for the skin, whereas hyaluronic acid is what I call the morning drink. Are you a little lost yet? Hopefully not! I do get a little OTT and excited about skincare ingredients, and retinol has always been one that I could rave about for hours.
I’ll keep it short here, and focus on this Retinol Repair Skin Crème from Holy Grail Beauty Co instead. It’s a retinol-infused moisturiser that I feel ladies 30+ will absolutely adore, yet it’s also great for those in their 20’s who hay be experiencing early fine lines, dull skin complexions, or blemish-prone problems.
I wanted to share this product review this side of Christmas, as with it’s sleek, modern packaging and clean appearance, it’s also a great stocking filler or main present for a lady you may know who is keen to keep her skin looking super youthful. This retinol packed cream works to reveal a younger-looking complexion with the power to speed up cell-turnover – which is amazing for improving dull skin by turning over the skin cells and revealing newer, fresher ones.
As well as Retinol being amazing for anti-aging and skin renewal, it also helps to treat blemish-prone skin, making this moisturiser the ideal match for most people. And, as if this product didn’t delight me enough (I’m early 30’s so I’m always going to favour a retinol rich cream for my night time use!), it infuses Hyaluronic Acid too. So those who need that hydration and nourishment fix – you’ve got it!
Alongside Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid, these two hero ingredients work together to ease fine lines and intensely hydrate and nourish skin,. And then, you have the mighty Green Tea and Aloe Vera to protect against environmental aggressors and improves the elasticity of the skin. Remember I mentioned it’s a good one for acne too? The Green Tea and Aloe Vera are anti-inflammatory, so they soothe any redness or irritation, making it an ideal lotion for angry or sore acne prone skin, without aggravating it further.
I have tried this product out for evening use, as I personally feel that’s the best time to let Retinol work it’s magic. I didn’t get that ‘purge’ some people do with retinol products, but probably because I’m so stranger to the ingredient. Some people can experience slight redness or a small breakout upon the first week of introducing retinol, but as the amounts are very safe and low, it should only last a couple of days.
So, for those who are reading this and are nodding in agreement, you’re probably wanting to know a little more about Holy Grail Beauty Co. This is the first product I’ve used from the brand, and from doing a little research, I can see that it’s a K-Beauty inspired brand, which favour a skincare regime that gives the opportunity to pare back your skincare routine to the bare essentials. We’ve all tried layering up products, which can of course work for certain skin concerns and problems, but sometimes, you want a product that takes the effort out and multi-tasks.
This is where Holy Grail comes in. The products work around multitasking and multipurpose products, that do more of those things in one step.
This Retinol Repair Skin Creme packs in a lot of steps in one go, if you ask me. The main one I would say is key is it’s anti-aging benefits, as the retinol works wonderfully to sooth and ease fine lines and wrinkles, due to it’s powerful method of renewing the skin cells and revealing fresher, newer skin. It’s with this that it encourages a fresher, brighter complexion, so you’re going to get that glowy boost, too.
Secondly, redness and irritation is soothed, and thirdly, acne is kept under control. Fourthly – although this should probably be higher on the list – it hydrates and boosts with moisturising and skin plumping hyaluonic acid.
If you choose to cleanse your face at night and then apply this cream, then rest assured, you won’t need anything else layered on top or underneath. Well, perhaps an eye cream, but I’m still searching for the best anti aging product when it comes to eyes!
