Fashion: August Favourites

August hasn’t quite brought the sunshiney skies and sun-kissed skin I’d been hoping for. So as much as I would love to showcase to you some fab Summer styled outfits, I’m afraid it isn’t the case. Instead, I’ve found I’ve been covering up slightly whilst August kicked in – how depressing, right?

I guess nothing is depressing about fashion though, so even though I’ve not exactly been trotting around in mini skirts and crop tops, I’m still loving some new additions to the What Emma Did wardrobe, in which I’m sharing with you today.

So knock out any Summer fashion thoughts, sit back with a hot drink (whilst it’s 12 degrees at present!) and have a little read…

Pink Soda Sport

This isn’t the first time I’ve shared my love for Pink Soda Sport with you all. In fact, it’s not even the second or third. It’s possibly the fourth though. And I can guarantee there will be a fifth! My latest items include this long sleeve cropped workout sweater and matching leggings, which are so sassy and smart for the gym. I’m not a fan of bold brights when it comes to gym wear – the more classic, tailored and premium looking, the better. And this certainly ticks all my boxes! These leggings cost £25.00 and the sweater at £20.00, and I know they’ll both last me a workout lifetime.

Burgundy Culottes

I purchased these burgundy culottes an entire season ago and I just love them. They’re a Topshop purchase, and I have to admit, I’m not usually a Topshop girl. I used to be back in my Uni Days, when it was seen as ‘cool’ and ‘hip’, but now I see it as over trendy expensive clothes. I grew up in my teens and early twenties desperately trying to buy their whole new collections, whilst working part time whilst studying. So I blame them for making me broke! Give students a break please!

That aside, these burgundy culottes are a gorgeous purchase to come off what was probably my last Topshop haul. Now, I tend to spend my money trawling new, independent brands on ASOS, H&M, Coggles, and department stores such as House of Fraser. Which leads me nicely onto my next outfit…

Jumpsuits and Playsuits

If you are familiar with my fashion posts, you’ll know I’m a sucker for a dress or a playsuit. Mainly because I like to have an outfit ‘ready’, without the hassle of putting together a vest top, a jacket, a skirt, or trousers, or a waistcoat….meh. Just pass me an all-in-one any day. Then all I have to hassle with is whether I wear tights or not, or heels or flats. This geo print version in the photo above is a recent House of Fraser purchase, which is from their Jumpsuit collection. I don’t usually wear loud prints, but paired down with black tights and shoes and minimal make-up, I’m pretty sold on this.

Designer Fashion

This month, I recently came across Alexis designer clothing, over at ShopSplash. I absolutely love girly fashion – anything in a dress form, with a frill, a cut off shoulder, a split, a tailored waist…. I’ll take it. The pretty and feminine dresses over at Alexis are just lovely and have got me thinking of my Winter ‘Dress Goals’ whilst Summer is slipping away. Party season isn’t all that far away now, so there’s no time like the present to start planning! Some of the designs by the Alexis brand are colourful and crazy, and others much more timeless and sleek.

Chi Chi Dresses

And last but not least – I’ll round up with this dress that I already featured here, but I still keep getting questions about it! It’s from Chi Chi and it’s called the Nessa Dress, and it’s blooming lovely. I have never had so many compliments from wearing a dress before. If you have any events coming up such as weddings or birthdays, they retail the most glamorous designs.

And there you have it. Stay tuned for my September round-up which I’m sure will feature some darker colour palettes and thicker materials!
