David Koma Spring Summer 2011 – London Fashion Week

The first show I went and trotted down to on the Monday of London Fashion Week was David Koma’s Spring/Summer 2011. The show embraced day 4 of London’s hectic fashion week, with the emphasis on pretty and feminine.

Colours were kept to a delicate peaches and cream theme, with touches of monochrome prints thrown in for good measure. Skirt hems were rising, with frills, ruffles and structured pleats.

The collection then moved on to a more eclectic look, with exaggerated peplum dresses complete with flashes of metallic golds, yellows and blacks. Shapes featured cut-out details with low necklines and low-rise backs.

David Koma SS11 Collection

Forming a tougher look, David Koma styled up the dresses with leather ruffles and mesh detail, adding a touch of grunge to the glamorous. Detailing included dramatic stripes which livened up the collection and gave the dresses a more evening feel. Make-up was kept minimal with hair styled in simple sleek ponytails so as not to detract for the stunning clothes.

I absolutely loved this collection, the cute summer’s day shift dresses worked the pretty and preened trend proving that love is still in the air for next summer, with the more evening style garments guaranteed to grace the red carpets come awards season!
