Beauty: Antipodes Brightening Cleanser Review

This is the first time I have ever got my hands on the lovely Antipodes brand, and boy it’s been a long time coming. I saw this brand when I was beauty product shopping in some of the prestigious department stores in Sydney, and I’ve also come across it online before. It’s one of those brands I have always wanted to give a go, but never quite took the plunge.

Anyway, today breaks the mould. I finally have some gorgeous packaged bottles of cleansers which I have been eagerly waiting to try out. From first glance, they look premium and special, in their beautiful bottles wrapped in Earth green labels. You can see it’s a brand that clearly cares about natural and organic skincare just from assessing the appearance. As I am currently loving exploring more natural and plant based beauty products, I placed the Hallelujah Lime and Patchouli Cleanser and the Juliet Skin Brightening Gel Cleanser on my bathroom side and decided to give them a good go…

If any of you are strangers to the Antipodes brand, then here’s a little info before I discuss the two products a little. It’s a vegan approved brand, with an ethos of using skin loving natural ingredients, celebrating green beauty. Inspired from the brands homeland of New Zealand (must be why I first discovered them whilst in Australia) they are proud of the fact the use ingredients from sustainably cultivated plants, to the fact they use local production and recyclable packaging.

Along with the green beauty mantra, Antipodes is often praised for the poetic names of products, the enticing mixes of exotic fragrances, and the beautiful packaging design. All three of these I noticed straight away from inspecting the cleansers and opening them. The first one I used was the Juliet Cleanser, as I was completely won over by it’s aim to brighten the skin. And yeah, mine is just so dull.

Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser: I was immediately sent straight into nature when dispensing this product onto my wet hands and massaging into my face. It’s light scent of refreshing green apple and cardamon was really uplifting. The gel cleanser aims to reveal clean, clear and blemish-free skin thanks to the action of exfoliating extracts from the New Zealand kiwi superfruit, and vibrant hibiscus flower. There is also manuka honey’s antibacterial powers and antioxidant-packed Vinanza® Grape included in the ingredients, helping to balance oil production. I do have blemish prone skin, which is very dull and marked with redness from previous breakouts. It’s naturally oily, but after years of tackling acne, it’s much more dryer now.

It’s gel consistancy feels calming on my face, and I noticed that once I have used this wash, my face looks slightly more glowy. Like I’ve had a little bit of life kicked into it. I put the freshness and brightening down to it’s exfoliating properties, which seems to work well to slough away those dull dead skin cells without being harsh. My skin is left feeling soft and moisturised too, so lets see if continued use will make a difference to the amount of breakouts I receive.

If you really want to see an improvement to the brightness of your skin, and get that glow in time for Summer, I’d put this product down as one of the one’s in which I have seen the fastest developed results for this.

Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser: Now this is one I would call an ‘all rounder’, mainly for it’s brilliant cleansing properties and successful results. This cream cleanser is the perfect wash to use in the morning, with it’s awakening lime scent creating a cheery start to the day. It has a pure base of avocado oil which aims to gently remove impurities, while carrot seed oil aims to promote skin that glows with good health. It features the highest quality essential oils of lime and patchouli to deeply cleanse, freshen and uplift.

Uplift it sure does! This is a pleasure to use, even if just to wake me up and let me feel good about myself first thing in the morning. But that aside, it’s also fabulous at what it aims to do, and that’s to be an all rounder for cleansing, moisturising and caring. Skin feels squeaky clean after using this, and I just have this amazing fresh feeling about my skin. I’m yet to see it’s glowing properties, but then again, I do look much more awake, so I guess the two are very similar plus points.

This cleanser seems to remove every little impurities, leaving me feeling like I have the purest skin. Such a fantastic cleanser which I’ll now be incorporating into my morning shower routine!
